Hockey Can
More than 30 Peewee players were
given the opportunity to sharpen
their skills during an on -ice camp
sponsored by Hockey Canada. last
week at the Seaforth arena.
Nic Jansen, development co-ordi-
nator for Hockey Canada, organized
the second annual free event.
"I wanted to give back to the com-
munity," said Jansen, 24, who grew
up playing minor hockey in Sea -
forth, and came home for a two-week
Christmas vacation.

After graduating from the three-
year sports management program
at Durham College, Jansen moved
to the East Coast where he got a job
with Hockey Canada.
He now helps run skills camps,
teaching youngsters fundamentals
of the game like passing and shoot-
ing.
At the Seaforth camp, the Peewee
players even learned safe checking
techniques.
Jansen was also helped out on the
ice by his cousins
