Drive Test workers been on strike more than four months

"We do not want Serco getting this
contract for another 10 years," she
said, noting negotiations are set to
begin for the next 10 -year contract
in 2010.
Jim Vance, of the Huron and Dis-
trict Labour Council, who was also
on hand for the demonstration, said
the length of the strike shows Serco
was unwilling to negotiate.
"It's very tough being on strike,"
he said. "A four-month strike is an
extra long strike."
Echoing Maddox's sentiments,
Vance said privatization does not
benefit consumers or workers: •
"It's all about profit," he said.
"Forcing people into poverty wages
'and taking away benefits that are a
normal part of worker's rights."
He ••added that if how the strike
was handled

workers, most of
whom are now
part-time, will
likely face more
tough challenges
in the future.

time positions

22 to 10.
