service was held on Saturday, December 19 at
the Egmondville United Church at 11:00 am. In-
terment Egmondville Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Marc Glanville, Tanner Glanville, Trevor Engel,
Tyson Engel, Luke McCallum, Curtis McCallum,
Cole Glanville and Dezmond Wood. Memorial

14, 2009 at Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell, Richard
Downey, formerly of Seaforth and Beechwood
Line, in his 91st year. Beloved husband of the
late Clara (Hauck) Downey. Dear father of Charlie
Downey of R.R.#5, Seaforth, Mary Beth Downey
and Dave of Stratford and BILI and Karen Downey
of Gadshill. Loving grandfather of Michelle and
Matthew. Also survived by his brother Joseph of
Seaforth. Besides his wife, he was predeceased
by his parents Joseph and Mary (Doyle) Downey,
his sisters and brother-in-law Mary and Ray Carter,
Anne Downey, Genevieve and Marguerite (both in
infancy), Carl and Alice Hauck and Milton Lack.
Family received friends at the Whitney-Ribey Fu-
neral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, Seaforth on
Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of the Chris-
tian Burial was held at St. James Roman Catholic
Church, Seaforth on Friday, December 18 at 11:30
a.m. Interment St. Columban Cemetery: Memo-
rial donations to the St. Columban Cemetery or

DEARING, DON: Donald Edward Dearing, 71, of
RR 2, Staffa passed away at Seaforth Community
Hospital on Thursday, December 17, 2009. Dear
brother of Jack (Maureen) Dearing, Mary (Jim)
Forrest and Elgin (Nancy) Dearing; cherished un-
cle of Rob (Kim) Dearing, Susan (Joe) Hand, Mike
Dearing, Steve (Rebecca) Dearing, Charlene (Lar-
ry) Naykalyk, Sandra (Rick) Thom, Melissa (Tim)
Merrill, Greg (Joyce) Dearing and Brett Dearing
(friend Angela); loving great uncle of 15 great
nieces and nephews.Predeceased by his parents
Edward and Janet (Chappel) Dearing. Friends
were received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109
Montreal St., Mitchell on Friday, December 18,
2009 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00
a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with

RAAB, Dr. James Peter: Dr. James Peter Raab,
68 died peacefully at his home in St. Lucie Vil-
lage, Florida on December 11, 2009. He leaves
his beloved wife, Pamela Jean Stapleton, formerly
of Seaforth, Ontario; his daughter, Major Jenni-
fer Jean, USAF of Washington, DC; a son, Peter
Stapleton of Austin, TX; sisters, Therese Wagner
of Unity, SK and Dina Tremblay of Summerland,
BC; brothers, Leonard Raab of Humboldt, SK and
Garry Raab of Calgary, AB. He was sadly prede-
ceased by his daughter, Jodie Kathryn. Born on
April 13th, 1941 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan to
Johanna and Leonard Raab, James was the mid-
dle child of a German, Roman Catholic, farming
family of seven. James attended high school at
St. Peter's College Boarding School, he received
his Bachelor of Science at the University of Sas-
katchewan and graduated from the Ontario Veteri-
nary College at the University of Guelph. Dr. Raab
first practiced Veterinary Medicine in Seaforth,
Ontario where he worked for Dr. Jack Turnbull.
He also met his wife, Pamela Stapleton and they
were married in Seaforth in 1967. After receiving
his Masters Degree from the University of Guelph
Dr. Raab worked in the pharmaceutical industry in
Montreal, Quebec and Greensboro, North Caro-
lina. In 1978, Dr. Raab and his family moved to
Ft. Pierce, Florida and established the Tri County
Animal Hospital where he practiced until his re-
tirement in 2004.Recently, James spent summers
with his wife at the family farm outside Seaforth.
He also enjoyed woodworking, golfing, playing
bridge and traveling. A mentor for veterinary pro-
fessionals and students alike, a compassionate
man and doctor, a loving father, husband, brother
and son, James's way of living and the huge smile
he offered to all will long be remembered. He was
a member of St. James Catholic Church. A guest

DAVIES (McDonald), C. Lynne: Peacefully, at
Seaforth Community Hospital on Sunday, Decem-
ber 20, 2009 at the age of 55. Beloved wife of John
Davies of Egmondville. Loving mother of Chris
Davies and his wife Jacqui Stewart of St. Thomas,
and Shannon Davies of London. Survived by her
mother-in-law Dorothy Davies of England. Dearly
missed by sister-in-law Susan Ammantoola and
family, and countless friends and family. Loved
by her aunt Jean McGale of Victoria, B.C.. Pre-
deceased by her parents Alvin and Vera (Mole)
McDonald, sister Gertrude Edith, in infancy, fa-
ther-in-law and brother-in-law. Lynne was an ac-
tive member in the community and spent over 25
years dedicating her life as a registered nurse.
Family received friends at the Whitney-Ribey Fu-

Seaforth, on Wednesday, December 23 (today) at
11:00 am, with Mary Fletcher, minister, and Pas-

Hengel, George Zwep, Jerry Zwep and Eugene
Hirt. Flower bearers will be Annette Lewington,
Maureen Cole, Mary Anne Vanden Hengel, Lois
Hodgson, Heather Clark and Carol Hirt. Interment
Brussels Cemetery. Donations made on behalf
of Lynne to Seaforth Community Hospital or the
Canadian Cancer Society are greatly appreciated,
