Atom no ey tourna- m nt, his daugh- .r Robyn Car- iochan says her 'dad would have been honoured to know about the tournament. "He would have been thrilled. It's so nice to see his name when you walk into the arena," she said Satur- day morning at the tournament which returned after a four-year absence. Bill Carnochan, who died in 1999, had a tournament organized in his name in January of 2000 by family friends Judy Jansen and Marian Van Dooren. When their kids grew up, the tournament lapsed for a while but Seaforth minor hockey decided to hold it again this year. Carnochan had been active in Seaforth minor hockey as a coach, manager and trainer. "He loved to watch his kids, his nieces and his nephews play hockey. And, he loved ringette too," said Robyn. While none of his relatives were playing Saturday when nine teams - three local league and six representative teams - competed from Seaforth, BCH, Goderich, South Huron, Lambton Shores and Hanover, Robyn said it's only a matter of time before grand- children are old enough to be in- volved. The Carnochan family were also on hand to present the trophies to the winners. Seaforth's LL team won the tournament's LL division 1-0 against BCH and BCH's rep team won the rep division of the tournament 4-3 against Lambton Shores. by Susan Hundertmark t The Huron Expositor • December 23, 2009 Page 21 Pictured at top right, Robyn Carno- chan drops the puck during the open- ing ceremony of the Bill Carnochan Memorial Tournament on Saturday.
