St. Anne's team shine

St. Anne's Secondary School swim-
mer Correena Otten was still nurs-
ing an injury Dec. 17, during the
Huron Swim Meet at the Vanastra
Recreation Centre.
When it came time for the school's
medley relay team to hit \the pool
for their race, Otten wasn't about to
back down. She swam the backHer
of the relay using only one arm
team finished in firstisenough it

"Our senior girls A relay teams are
very strong again this year," says
swim coach Terrie Van Osch.
The senior girls' 200 metre free-
style relay team is also in great
shape, Van Osch says. The

a time of 2:09:44 and includes mem-
bers Kristen Devereaux, Nicole Van
Gaalen, Kristen Van Gaalen and
Nadine Otten.
"We have a big team this year
which means we can put in meet ot f
rrelays at the Huron Perth
Van Osch says. "We will not do as
well overall I think this year as we
lost a lot of good senior swimmers
but it still should be a good year."r
Other notable performances
the St. Anne's team last week in-
clude a first place finish by Kristen
Van Gaalen in the senior

metre freestyle race and another
first by Nadine Otten in the junior
girls' 50 metre freestyle race.
Logan Bruxer from St. Anne's took
first place in the junior boys' 50 me-
tre freestyle and 50 metre k first breast-
stroke. Kristen Devereaux
in the senior girls' 50 metre freestyle
and 100 metre breaststroke. •
Nicole Van Gaalen finished first
in the junior girls' 50 metre breast-
stroke.
The school's senior boys' 200 me-
tre freestyle team also took first in
their race.
