Annual turkey meal draws
b!g crowd last week
Wow! Winter has arrived
in Winthrop in a way that
makes us take notice. I per-
sonally have had enough
snow but am quite sure it is
not finished.
Mary Fletcher's sermon at
Cavan United Church was
titled "A Message of Peace."
Jini Rapson contributed to
the sermon dressed as a '
shepherd when he is told of
the life of a shepherd around
the time of Christ's birth.
The Flood family lit the Ad-
vent candle and the ladies'
chorus contributed a num-
ber. Greeters and collectors
were Susan MacDonald and
Ruth Campbell.
Fiddlers Murray McCall
and Andrew Patrick, accom-
panied by Sherry McCall on
piano, contributed their mu-
sical talents before and dur-
ing the service.
Coffee time has resumed
after the Sunday services.
The ladies of the church
held their annual turkey
meal. This time, the men
were also invited. About 30
people took advantage of a
night out as well as a bounte-
ous meal.
Sympathy of the commu-
nity is extended to the family
of Ross Ribey. Ross was
always interested in
community and could
carry on a conversation
with anyone. He will be
greatly missed.
Marjorie Dolmage vis-
ited recently with her
three sisters who live
near Edmonton. They
celebrated Christmas
early.
Gail Schroeder has
returned home from
Stratford hospital after
having knee replace-
ment surgery.
