Health unit will provide H1N1 shots as long as demand continues
From Page 1
"That's a lot •of needles over four
hours, especially since there were
already 200 H1N1 shots given at
the high risk clinic in Seaforth a few
weeks before," she said.
Line-ups have been
Vi
common at H1N1 clinics
throughout Huron Coun-
ty
oun ty since the vaccination
began being offered to v ►y lr
the general public. Tay-
lor said there was also
a line-up in Wingham,
whereeo le were also

And, while there are
line-ups, Taylor said
Huron County people , y

haven't made any com-
plaints or caused any
problems at the clinics.
"People are very • re-
spectful in the line-ups and so nice
and understanding when we've had
to turn them away. They seem to re-
alize that we are trying our best to
get people vaccinated," she said.
Taylor expected that a decision
would be made whether or not to con-
tinue offering clinics after an H1N1
clinic was held in Clinton Monday
from 3-7 p.m.
"We will wait and see what the de-
mand is Monday," she said on Fri-
day.
Since local doctor's offices are being
supplied with seasonal and H1N1
flu shots, Taylor said that it could be
•
possible that the health unit would
start to depend on doctors to provide
the shots instead of holding more
clinics.
"We're trying to work with family
doctors to carry H1N1. It's always
been a shared model
f , . and we're hoping to do
that now," she said.
As well, she said the
C health unit is begin-
ning to plan H1N1
.» clinics through loca,1
pharmacies or work-
places.
But,
while there has
been some requests
even from school board
STC= S trustees to offer the

there are no plans yet
to do so.

she said, adding that
the need to get consent
forms complicates the
situation . as well.
So far, 9,000 Huron County people
have received the H1N1 vaccination,
protecting around 15 per cent of the
county population.
Taylor said the health unit usually
sees about one third of the county
vaccinated with seasonal flu.
"We'll be happy if we see the re-
sponse at one-third for the H1N1
shot as well," she said, adding that
the health unit will continue to offer
the H1N1 shot to anyone who wants
it.
"We will carry the vaccine until

March or April. We won't stop," she
said.
Taylor said the health unit has no
worries about running out of H1N1
vaccines.
"We got vaccines in the fridge and
the flow from the manufacturer is
great right now," she said.
