Radars try to turn their season around
with wins against Lucan and Tavistock
The Clinton Radars had their most suc-
cessful weekend of the season to date by
picking up wins over the Lucan Jets and
the Tavistock Royals. The Radars doubled
their win total, and may have saved a sea-
son that appeared to be heading nowhere
fast.
In Clinton on Friday, the Jets opened the
scoring midway through the second period.
The Radars answered back just over three
minutes later on a goal from Tyler Ellig-
sen.
Elligsen's second goal of the game seven
minutes in to the third period gave the Ra-
dars a short lived 2-1 lead.. 58 seconds later
Lucan scored to even the game. With just
under six minutes left in the game, Jason
Grenier scored the go ahead goal and the
Radars held on for the 3-2 victory.
Justin Hayter made 34 saves in goal while
earning his first win for the Radars. Col-
lecting assists for the Radars were Luke
Vick (2), Drew Martin, Jarrod Shugg, Ryan
Watterworth and Nick VanderBurgt.
On Saturday night in Tavistock, the Ra-
dars and Royals were getting reacquainted
for the first time since the Royals game 7
overtime win last March.
The Radars struck first eight minutes in
to the game when Jason Grenier capitalized
on a Royals turnover and scored a short-
handed goal. Tavistock came back with two
goals before the end of the first to take 2-1
lead after 20 minutes.
The Royals took a 3-1 lead with two min-
utes to go in the second. With only 37 sec-
onds to go, Dave Verberne scored to get the
Radars within one heading into the final
period.
The Radars tied up the game less than two
minutes in to the third on a nice powerplay
goal from Jarrod Shugg. Late in the peri-
od, Luke Vick stole the puck from a Royals
defender and went in all alone to score the
game winner with only 1:16 left to play.
Cam Becker made 30 saves in the 4-3 Ra-
dars win. DJ Deline, Todd Holloway, Randy
Kilburn, Mark VanDooren and Adam Leon-
hardt all had 1 assist.
The Radars have won their last three
games and now have a record of 4 wins, 5
losses and 2 overtime/shootout losses for
10 points and sit in 6th place in the WOAA
South Division.

Up next for the Radars is a game in Thed-
ford on Saturday (Nov.28). The Dirty Dogs
have 3 wins and 7 losses. Game time is
8:30 pm.
