DIED IN CALGARY
Mrs, Emerson Cornish received
a telegram on Thursday last, an-
,nouncing the death of her sister,
Mrs. Nelson Vickers, of Drumheller,
Alta.. who died that day in Calgary
Hospital. aged 35 years. The de-
ceased had been in delicate health
for the past two years, hence her
death was not in the least unexpect-
ed. Mrs. Vickers was born in the
township of Hay, being a daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Hey, of
that Tp., Besides her husband, she
is survived by three children, two
sons and one daughter, also three
brothers and two •sisters -Albert
Hey, of Zurich; Herb, of London and
Edward. of Drumheller, Alta.; Mrs.
Emerson Cornish, and Mrs. Henry
O'Neil. Being well and favorably
known in the Township of Hay, her
many friends there will regret to
learn of her demise. She left these
parts about 12 years ago.

Mr, Stephen Powell is visiting in
Dresden this week.
The James. st. Sunday school pic-
nic took place to Grand Bend yester-
day, (Wednesday).
The Trivitt Memorial soft -ball
team will play the Centralia team at
Centralia, to -morrow (Friday) even-
ing,
On Thursday night at S p. m., Ma-
jor and Mrs. Byers will conduct their
farewell service after a successful
period here.
Mr• Stewart Stanbury has received
the appointment of Scoutmaster in
charge of a Boy Scout camp in Mus-
koka and left this week for Hunts-
ville. The large plate glass window on
the north side of Messrs. Southcott
Bros'. store became cracked across,
last week owing doubtless to the
building settling,
Miss Elva Hunkin, daughter of
Mr. John Hunkin, of town, and Miss
'earl Wood, daughter of Mr. Wm.
Wood, of Usborne, were in Aylmer
Monday writing on their musical ex
aminations.
:Mss Ethel Stewart of Farquhar, a
pupil of W R. Goulding, A.T.0„M has
been very successful itra her inusi•s,
having obtained 'honors, in her Primary
piano examination. and first class
honors in elementary theory.
Miss :Marguerite Kuntz' was a suc-
cessful student of the London Nor-
mal this year, receiving her first
class certificate. She is engaged to,
teach Clandeboye public school.

Two rinks Sof bowlers from here were
in London this week attending the
tournament, They were Messrs,
Richard G. Seldon, W. W. Tamara,
Wan. J. Heaman, and Ed}. J.
Christie in the ons team; C. 11 Snell,
Goldie Cochrane, E. J. Wethey and
Geo. Snell in the other.
Mr. R. G. Seldon, who is in atten-
dance at the bowling tournament at
London this week, was on Monday,
elected President of the Western
Ontario Bowling Association for the
ensuing year, at the annual meeting
held at the London Rowing Club
greens at the close of the first days
play, at the 29th annual tournam-
ent. Congratulations R. G.
Mrs. Thos. Russell who has been
confined to her room for some weeks
after Mr. Russell's death, is able to
go down town again. -Miss Dorothy
Smith, only daughter of Mr.= and
Mrs. E. B. Smith, who recently pass-
ed her final examinations at the
London Normal School, is expecting
an appointment on the staff of an -

Mr. Henry Reynolds, of Victoria
Park, town, picked from a Single
bush in his fine garden, twenty-one
Quarts of exeelient gooseberries. The
bush they were picked from was an
extra large one, measuring nine
feet across. Mr. Reynolds considers
this a record yield and hard to beat,
and we second the motion.

the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs.

nesday last, the two little girls` re-
maining in Toronto for a visit, Mr.
Fuke and Mr. Stanbury were on
business with the Department of Ed-
ucation.
Mrs. Josephine Whyte W and son,
Harold were called to Mitchell last.,
Friday evening owing to the,sudden
death ' of the former's sister-in-law,
Miss Grace' Whyte, who was drown-
ed at Goderich last week. Harold
Whyte accompanied the remains of '.
his aunt to Hamiota, Man. on Sat-
