Eisler served for two and
half years from early 1944 to
1946 in the armyin France,
Germany and Holland with
the Royal Canadian Regi-
ment in London and the Lin-
coln and Welland 4th Divi-
sion. .
"I went overseas when
there was only three months
left to the war and I stayed
for a year afterwards in the
occupation," he says.
Eisler says he spent a year
in Holland after the Second
World War ended guarding a
truck depot.
Serving the Seaforth Legion
for 65 years, Eisler served on
its executive from secretary
and sports officer up to presi-
dent and past president. He
coached hockey through the
Legion for 20 years and re-
ceived the Meritorious Ser-
vice Medal in the 1970s.
"I've spent a lot of time at
the Legion," he says.
At the same time Eisler
received his 65 -year pin, his
son Gary received his 35 -
year pin and two grandsons,
Jon Eisler and Jeff Flanagan,
received their 10 -year pins.
