During the week all branch loca- tions will accept non-perishable food items in place of cash for overdue li- brary fines. The project is offered through the Huron County Library in partner- ship with the Huron County Health Unit and local food banks. This is the fourth year the Huron County Library has offered the pro- gram at their library branches. When the program was run in 2008, 534 people donated 790 items to lo- cal food banks through their public library in Huron County. 'Food for Fines' provides library us- ers the opportunity to clear their re- cord, return overdue materials, and support local food banks. During the program fines for items are waived on a one to one ratio; it's simply one item of food for each book overdue. All donations through this pro- gram are redistributed to food banks within Huron County. For more information on Food for Fines or other events at your library visit your local branch or www.hu- roncounty.ca/library/. MUNICIPALITY OF HURON EAST CLASS ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR SANITARY SEWAGE SERVICING (COMMUNITY OF EGMONDVILLE) THE PROJECT: The Municipality of Huron East initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) in 2007 to determine the most appropriate method to extend municipal sanitary servicing to the community of Egmondville. Phase I of the study established a need within the community due to deficiencies identified with existing on-site sewage disposal (septic) systems. The second public meeting, which was held in June of this year, presented a summary of various servicing alternatives available to extend municipal servicing to Egmondville. A preferred servicing alternative has now been selected by the Technical Steering Committee (TSC) formed in conjunction with the study. The TSC is recommending that traditional gravity sewers be utilized to service the community of Egmondville. Detailed information on the preferred alternative, as well as all of the servicing alternatives that were considered, is now available for input and review. CLASS EA PROCESS: The planning for this project is following the environmental screening process established for Schedule B activities under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) document. Schedule B projects are approved subject to the completion of Phases 1 & 2 of the Class EA process. The purpose of the screening process is to identify any potential environmental impacts associated with the proposal and to plan for appropriate mitigation of any impacts. PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT: As part of the public consultation program developed for this project, a Public Information Meeting has been scheduled to advise residents of the current study investigations and to receive additional input from interested parties.
