BIA's `Old-fashioned Christmas' event begins Nov. 13
Three -days of visits from Santa Claus, horse and buggy rides and free apple cider
The Seaforth Business Im-
provement Area is gearing up
for its annual weekend holiday
celebration, which begins Nov.
13 at 8 p.m. with a tree -lighting
ceremony and caroling in front of
the visitors' centre downtown.
"It's the kick off to the Christ-
mas season in Seaforth," says
BIA chair Cathy Elliott.
On Nov. 14, Santa Claus will
make an appearance on Main
Street from 11
a,m. till 2 p.m.
On Nov. 15,
from 1-4 p.m.,
Santa will be
joined by a
horse-drawn
carriage, offer-
ing free rides
to children and
adults.
Old-fashioned
costumes are
also being do-
nated by the
Livery Theatre
in Goderich and lent to down-
town merchants, to get into the
spirit of the season, Elliott says.
"It's a way of celebrating our
Victorian heritage," she says.
Part of the original plan for the
weekend event also included hav-
ing actors put on a "living nativ-
ity scene." But the plan has since
been cancelled due to an illness.
Elliott says she hopes to try it
next year.
