Charged with walking drunk and
looking too good in a track uniform,
Seaforth Coun. Bob Fisher couldn't
convince the Crime Stoppers judge
that he was innocent and ended up
having to raise $300 for bail at the
annual Jail and Bail fundraiser in
Goderich last week.
"It was thoroughly enjoyable. I told
them my accusors were just jealous
but I still went to jail," says,Fisher.
Ken Jones, of McKillop Mutual In-
surance in Seaforth, also faced some
unusual charges including buying
five neutered prize bulls, 24 empty
cases of beer, 2,700 ' chickens with
no wings and sauce on the side and
three green Santa suits.
"They left it up to my staff to come
up with the charges so it got pretty
bizarre," laughs Jones. "I got into the .
spirit of the day and bantered with
the judge."
For his first time involved with the
fundraiser, Jones raised $430 for
Crime Stopppers.

raise $15,000 for .Crime Stoppers
Putting politicians and community
leaders behind bars really paid off
for Huron County Cringe Stoppers.
Crime Stopper's raised $15,000 for
the organization through imprison-
ing 26 persons of note, and having
each of them call their friends, fami-
lies, and known accomplices to raise
their own bail money.
"We're very pleased with the re-
sult," Shawn McFalls, police liaison
for Crime Stoppers said,
McFalls played the lead prosecutor
for the day.
"We were looking for '$500 from
each participant, so that would bring
in $13,000. Despite the fact that we
were down a participant due to ill-
ness, we still brought in approxi-
mately $15,000," he said.
Some of the worst offenders were
Goderich Mayor Deb Shewfelt, who
paid $1,900 to avoid jail time, Clinton
Doctor Maarten Bokhout, who paid
$820. to keep his record clean, and
Goderich PD Branch Manager Matt
Hoy, who paid $870 to avoid spend-
ing the night with his cellmates.
The charges were varied, as people
were dragged in and placed in their
silk, striped pajama; but every ac-
cused was convicted of their crimes
and placed behind bars.
Ally Anderson, an on -air personali-
ty from The Beach radio station, was
picked up by an RCMP officer and
several OPP while she was on the air,
dragged in front of Judge (and Crime.
Stoppers Chair) Don Armstrong, and
was found guilty of "Gold Digging"
