It also contains photographs of the soldiers' tombs as well as headshots, when available. "They are using my information to upgrade their virtual war memori- al," he said. "That's pretty cool." The Canadian Virtual War Me- morial: contains records of Cana- diati: and Allied Veterans. He said he wanted to take a gen- tler approach with his writing, es- pecially where the wounded were concerned. However, he said the files at the archive described in detail not only what happened to a soldier, but what was done to save his life. "I wanted to be more compassion- ate," he said. "But I am so proud of these guys." Tremblay noticed. "I love the care with which you cap- tured the essence of those who made the supreme sacrifice," she wrote. The Men of Huron was funded part- ly by a Trillium grant, and Rutledge said he plans to apply for another for his next project - one documenting the men of World War One. "I guess my passion is the veter- ans," he said. "I'll have to spend a lot more time in Ottawa doing re- search."
