Creek, where he takes charge of a
Methodist circuit.
Owing to the Orange service in
the afternoon, no evening service
was held in. the Trivitt Memorial
church on Sunday.
Two rinks of bowlers from here
went to Hensall on Thursday even-
ing and played a friendly game with
the Hensall boys and figured in the
winnings.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Ford and fanc-
ily and Mr, and Mrs. Lonff, of De-
troit, after a two weeks' visit with
relatives here returned to their home
in Detroit on Sunday.
Misses Alnia Harding, Beta Rowe,
Alice Pfaff and Fern Francis left
Monday morning as delegates of
James Street Sunday School, to at-
tend the Summer School, at St.
Thomas.
Mrs. I, Armstrong returned from
Toronto on Thursday last, after sev-
eral week's visit with her daughter,
Mrs. Smith, who accompanied her
mother home.
VETERANS' RE -UNION and PICNIC
On Wednesday, August 13th, a re-
union and picnic of the War Veter-
ans will be held at Bayfield. Pro-
gram of sports and amusements of
all kinds will take place. Come and

sions of a trip across the great ocean,
by the Exeter nhenhbers of the Press
party.
We were shown a very interesting
view, by Mr. W. H. - Dearing, of the
Empire Exhibition grounds and
buildings in Old London, taken from
an aeroplane. It shows the magni-
tude of this great exhibition and
what might be expected from a visit-
or's viewpoint.
Mr.T. S. Woods received word on
Saturday of the serious illness of his
mother, Maria Caroline Grey Hodge,
widow of the late James P. Woods,
K.C. Mr. Woods immediately left
for that city, but shortly after his
arrival, she passed away. She had
been in very poor health for a long
time. The funeral took place on
Tuesday.
On Friday evening last the straw-
berry festival given by the Ladies'
Aid of James St. Methodist church,
was largely attended and was a grat-
ifying success to the committee iu
charge. Besides the beautiful and
and delicious strawberries and
cream, cake, tarts and other choice
yields were served. The proceeds
amounted to about $200.

PAINFULLY INJURED
An auto accident occurred on Main
St. Tuesday which might have been
attended with serious results. Two
young men from Wiarton, a lady and
a little girl from London, were driv-
ing north through town in an Over-
land car and when about opposite
James Street, collided with a Ford
car driven by Mrs. Isaac, accompan-
ied by Mrs. Naussa Davis, of Us -
borne Tp., Afront wheel of the Over-
land Was somewhat damaged and al-
so one hind wheel on the Ford and
the axle bent. An the occupants
escaped injury except Mrs. Davis,
whose forehead came in contact with
some part of the car and was pain-
fully bruised. She was removed to
Dr. Hyndman's hospital, where her
injuries were dressed and she was
afterwards able to return to her
home.

Mr. W. H. Martyn, of London, a
former Exeter resident who has been
in poor'health for some time, under-
went an operation for gall stones at
Victoria Hospital, London, on Satur-
day. The operation was successful
and the patient has since been doing
nicely.
