The leaves are starting to show their brilliant colours and a definite coolnessis in the air. At last Sunday's service at Cavan United Church, communion was served with Rev. NickVandermey assisting Mary. Fletcher. Since it was World Wide Com- munion Sunday, Mary's children's story was about the world and the countries in it and how this obser- vance was started. The sermon ` for Sunday was ti- tled "Enough for All." Greeters and collectors were Bud and Mary Eyre. There will be no service at Cavan United on Oct. 18 as it is Anniver- sary Sunday at Northside, where Cavan is invited. Sun- day, Oct. 25 is the Anniversary Service at Ca- van. Last week, members of the drama class at CH SS travelled to New York City where they attended several plays .and were invited back- stage at one of them. Grandson Curtis was one of the students. There was some excitement in the communi- ty last Saturday. A police car was stopping traffic at the corner. Details have not been forthcom- ing but it sure got residents cu- rious. We wish Don McClure, a Win- throp resident, a speedy recovery. Don is at pres- ent a patient in hospital. T h e Thanksgiving house to the west of the store is be- ing gradually completed. The lawn has been prepared and is ready for planting. The ball season at the.- park has come to an end for this season. We are not into the hockey, ringette and broomball season.
