Hospital display at fall fair provides good PR, says LAC

A Seaforth Community Hospital
display at the Seaforth fall fair drew
interest from the crowds but the hos-
pital's Local Advisory Committee is
wondering how to do it better next
year.
LAC member Frances Teatero said
quite a few people were interested in
the hospital display but noted that
a give-away might draw more inter-
est.
Matero said members of the pub-
lic were asking when the Seaforth
emergency department would open
up full-time again and LAC chair
Gord Rimmer said he heard from
one member of the public some reac-
tion about the community meetings
being held to plan for the future of
the Alliance.
"He wasn't too keen about the
meetings - he didn't like the way it
was laid out," he said.
Alliance member Bill Scott won-
dered if a manned booth scared some
people away while LAC member
Kerri-Anne O'Rourke suggested that
unmanned booths will sometimes at-
tract people to read the material on
offer.
"Maybe you'd need someone at the
busy times," she said.
Site administrator Mary Cardinal
said that while the hospital hasn't
offered a booth at the fall fair before,
it sounds like this year's efforts pro-
vided some good public relations for
the hospital.
Grace Dolmage wondered if a key-
note speaker on a healthcare topic
might draw more interest in the hos-
pital booth.
Cardinal suggested that the LAC
form a committee in the spring to
look into ways to improve the hospi-
tal's booth at the fair next fall.
