for his fourth season
to lead th4 team be-
hind the bench.
Dietz says he's also
looking to Maxwell to
turn on his offensive
game this year.
"He's a very engeric
and swift winger," Di-
etz says. ` "In his rook-
ie season last year,,
we saw signs of how
much he could bring to the offense.
This season, he'sfinding his offen-
sive game."
The Hawks started the season
•
with a pair of wins — a 6-0 thrash-
ing of Hanover and a 6-5 victory
over Mount Forest.

Seaforth's Josh Nurse stops a• shot from a Wingham Ironmen player during a

Central Huron had several very
promising results at two recent
invitational meets, says . coach
Cindy Carter.
With 36 runners on the Central
Huron team this year, Carter says
she's got the most runners she's
ever had on the team.
"Having a bigger team is great
for training purposes because ev-
erybody pushes each other," she
says.
She adds that so far, the midget
runners are the most committed
but the whole team is keen to
participate.
"I've got 10 midgets this year so
hopefully next year, they'll all be
back with a friend," she says.
While a number of runners are
finishing in the top 10 or the top
20, Carter says she's also excited
to see students join cross country
for the first time who aren't usu-
ally involved in athletics and are
interested in improving their fit-
ness levels.
"Megan Cardno, of Seaforth, is
coming out for the first time and
she's finishing every race, smiling
and enjoying it. You can get a lot
out of cross country and learn to
enjoy fitness. I don't want to put
the pressure on the kids who are
out for fitness," she says.
She adds there are also a num-
ber of athletes using cross country
for cross training for other sports
like swimming or hockey.
But, she adds that the midget
girls and junior boys are look-
ing good, pointing out how Cur-
tis Taylor of the junior boys came
ninth in a recent meet.
