Autumn has arrived in Winthrop. We
received some. much needed rain and
also some frost one morning. The su-
mac is showing its bright red colours.
Also, two trees on North Main are
decked out in their fall finery.
Pastor Mary Fletcher's sermon topic
on Sunday was "A Queenly Courage."
Greeters and collectors were Marion
and Sandra Hunt. Next Sunday is
World Wide Communion Sunday.
Last Wednesday, I watched the cross
country races held. at Hullett School in
Londesboro. One of three of our grand-
children participating came in third.
They all, however, gave a good effort. A
light rain dampened things briefly but
not the spirits of the participants. At
least six area schools were present.
Several from the area were in the
Carlton area attending the Interna-
tional Plowing Match. Included in this
group are Bill and Sharon McClure,
Brian MacDonald, Don, Maja and Paul
Dodds. •
