Fifty-eight runners, walkers and cy-
chsts participated in : a six kilometre
trek across town during the ' annual
Terry Fox Run, which raised $2,583 for
cancer research on Sept. 13.
While the exact number of people
participated last year, revenue is down
significantly, from the $4,479 raised in
2008.
But local organizer Marty Bedard
says there were almost a dozen new-
comers to the event this year, as well
as long-time contributors pitching in
heftyri donations,, .including Ricki and
Gilbert Van Steelandt, who contribut-
ed $820 and Ken Cardno, who contrib-
ute
ontributed$465 to the event.
The participants started at 10 a.m.
from the Seaforth and District Commu-
nity Centres and headed down Chalk
Street and into - town. After reaching
,Egmondville, they turned around and
took a different route back, finishing a
trip of roughly six kilometres.
The Thrry Fox Run has been held in
towns and cities across Canada every
year since 1981 and has raised more
than $340 million for cancer research.

Last season, the tournament at-

He also says there are plans for a

Pryce says the minor hockey exec-

look after fundraising this season.
One idea for a fundraiser is to
somehow link up with the Tim Nor-

is taking place in Stratford on Jan.

Anyone interested in volunteering
