`Strongest Iron bridge in township'
Is built In Egmondville in 1909

cently playing with some other boys
on a tree fell there from, breaking
his arm below the elbow.
Thomas Ballantyne of Usborne
shipped two carloads of very fine
cattle from Hensall station on Mon-
day, Mr. H. Chesney also shipped a
like number of cars within the past
week for Montreal, while Mr. Thom-
as Govenlock followed by shipping
a carload of lamb. James Murray
of Tuckersmith is also among. the
shippers of the past week, having
shipped a carload of cheese, the
product of the Rodgerville factory.
Mr. A.G. Van Egmond has had the
roof of his woollen mill ornamented
with twenty-seven lightning rods.
Wm. Murray of Harpurhey has
again beaten the record for big
threshing. He threshed on the
farm of Mr. Thomas McMichael,
Hullett, 1,300 bushels of grain in
nine hours.

The new steel and cement bridge
at Egmondville was fully complet-
ed and opened for traffic on Satur-
day last.
The net cost of the new bridge, all
complete is $1,375.32. It is consid-
ered to be the strongest iron bridge
in the township.
The telephones for use on the
lines in Tuckersmith are at No. 3
store house in Seaforth and those
who are having phones installed
should call at the store house on
Saturday afternoon September
18th.
James Stewart of Egmondville
was appointed tax collector of Tuck-
ersmith township for this year at a
salary of $100.
Mr. H. Petty of Hensall has treat-
ed himself to a nice runabout au-
tomobile , and has already given a
number of his friends trips in it.
September 14,1934
Workmen are busy this week
thoroughly painting the large wa-
ter tank behind the town hall. The
work is being done by the P.U.C. of
which E.L. Box is the chairman.
While working at the Bell En-
gine and Thresher company plant
on Thursday of last week Ernest
Geddes suffered painful injuries to
his eyes. Splashing metal caused
serious burns which necessitated
medical attention.
Principal G.A. Ballantyne an-
nounced . this week the winners
of scholarships presented by the
collegiate for excellence in seven
Upper School papers. Miss Win-
nie Savauge won the first prize of
$25.00 in cash and Jessie Smith,
second, $15.00 in cash and James
Scott ranked third.
The Attorney General has an-
nounced the appointment of E.C.
Chamberlain as Clerk of the sec-
ond division court at Seaforth. Mr.
Chamberlain who will open his of-
fice in the Thronto-Dominion bank
building succeeds . J.C. Greig who
has held that position for a number
of years.
September 11, 1959
A presentation was made to the
secretary -treasurer of the Seaforth
Public Utility Commission prior to
her departure. Marie Huisser was
honoured by members of the PUC
staff and town staff. Mr. and Mrs.
F. Huisser have moved to Whitby,
where Mr. Huisser is on the staff of
a Whitby school.
Installation of 90 additional lock
boxes in the Seaforth Post Office is
contemplated. The new boxes will
'bring the total of boxes in the post
office to 576.
Designed to eliminate • dust
spreading around the mill area,
1bpnotch Feeds Limited last week
installed a modern dust cyclone on
the roof of the mill, nearly 80 feet
above ground. The massive collect-
ing unit was hoisted on the end
of the 125 foot boom of a portable
crane.
Dr. A.S. Black who has practised
dentistry here since the spring of
1956, left this week for London
where he will serve on the dental
staff of the London Public School
System.

Election Tuesday was a day Hu-
ron -Bruce Progressive Conserva-
tives (PC) celebrated in Brussels
- and celebrate they did. Over 600
local PC party supporters and cam-
paign workers cheered when their
federal party was voted to power in
a landslide victory.
The Union Jack flag flying on the
clock tower of Cardno's Opera Hall
in 'Seaforth was stolen over the
weekend. Police Chief Hal Claus
said the flag, worth over $100, dis-
appeared sometime between Fri-
day night and Saturday morning.
Police are not sure who took the
flag.
A survey designed to gather infor-
mation on the feasibility of estab-
lishing a French Immersion Pro-
gram in Huron County has been
circulated through the schools to
parents of elementary and nursery
school age children. On the aver-
age, enrolment at schools in Huron
County is much the same as in pre-
vious years. Increases if any, are
minor, and decreases are few.

Epilepsy Huron -Perth -Bruce
gives thanks for donations
To the Editor,
On behalf of Epilepsy Huron -Perth -
Bruce, I would like to take this op-
portunity to extend my gratitude and
appreciation to the community for
their participation during the recent
Glad Day campaign in Seaforth.
Specialthanks to coordinators and
the volunteers who work so diligent-
ly year after year. Heartfelt thanks
to all those who purchased gladiolus,
raffle tickets or made a donation dur-
ing the campaign.
Epilepsy is one of the most com-
mon neurological disorders affect-
ing members of our community. The
funds raised through this event will
be used by our chapter to continue to
provide information, counselling and
educational programs in our commu-
nity in the future.
By raising funds, we have also
raised awareness about epilepsy and
helped to eradicate some of the com-
monly -held misconceptions . about
the disorder.
