We have had some summer-like days lately in Winthrop but the nights sure feel like fall. Our new minister was in the pulpit on Sunday. Greeters and collectors were Jim and Diane Rapson. Several Winthrop -area residents attended the Huron County Plowing Match, which was held last week on the farm of . Bob and Pat Down, just north of Exeter. Competing in the variouslowin classes were George Zbwnsend, Trevor Zbwnsend, Les and Fraser Falconer, Paul Dodds, Steven and Kevin Haney, Brandon and Jacob McGavin, Troy Leeming, Darryl O'Rourke, Brian MacDonald, Da- vid Grobbink, Scott Baan and Stuart Higgins. Several of our lo- cal plowmen com- peted in the Perth County Plowing Match the day fol- lowing. Dorothy and Fred McGregor of Brucefield visited with Dan, Maja and Paul Dodds, Saturday eve- ning. News was re- ceived on Aug. 30 of the passing of Bob Betties of British Colum- bia.
