"Everybody tries to
get into the big cities
but you need a broad
audience in comedy
and what's funny in
Toronto isn't funny in
Seaforth. It's important to play the
small towns to find out what makes
those people laugh," he says.

Billon says writing for This Hour
is a great opportunity to . see his
jokes performed by someone else.
"It's a dream job - I always have a
blast over there. It's a nice change
to watch your joke be delivered. If
the joke doesn't go over, you're glad
it's not you," he says.
Proia and Billon are the first of
six comedians scheduled to per-
form at the Queen's Inn on Satur-
day nights from Sept. 12 to 26.
Owner Octavio Ruccolo says if the
crowds come, he hopes to offer com-
edy on Saturday nights throughout
the winter.
"When the economy is bad, peo-
ple need to laugh a little and forget
about their problems," he says.
He adds that while the main floor
renovations of the Queens Inn are
complete and he's almost ready to
begin renting hotel rooms on the
second and third floors to travel-
lers, he's also hoping to turn the
restaurant into an entertainment
centre for Seaforth.
"This is the only hotel left in Sea -
forth and I want to fill it with live
entertainment," he says, adding
he's looking for local bands to per-
form along with musicians like Da-
vid Wilcox, Carole Pope and Rough
Trade and the Downchild Blues
Band he's planning to book before
Christmas.
"People are coming to see the
bands on Friday nights and they're
getting up and dancing. People
want to move," says Ruccolo.
Dinner and show for the Yuk
Yuk's performers is $38 per person.
It begins at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 12.
