Parade, midway
returning to Fall Fair

A number of 'scheduling changes
are in effect for this year's Seaforth
Fall Fair, which will see the four-day
event conclude with Chuckwagon
races and a demolition derby.
• Instead of having a parade on the
Friday, morning as it has tradition-
ally been held, the parade will com-
mence at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday,
Sept. 12.
The parade will still follow its usual
route, from Optimist Park to the fair-
grounds.
Seaforth Agricultural Society presi-
dent Ethan Wallace says there were
some safety concerns from the el-
ementary schools about escorting a
large number of
students to Opti-
mist Park.
Wallace is hop-
ing parents win
encourage their
kids to dress up in
the theme of this
year's fair, "Let-
tuce Go Green,"
' and bring them to
Optimist Park for
10:30 a.m. so they
can participate in
the parade.
More floats also
are needed for the
parade, Wallace
says.
• Wallace and the
2009 Fall Fair or-
ganizing commit-
tee also decided
to reschedule the
demolition derby

needs to repair the roof of its Round-
house, which was built around 1900.
Wallace says the cedar shake roof
has some leaks and the damage is
"bad enough" that the Agriculture
Society is seeking repair estimates
from companies or individuals inter-
ested in doing the job.
During the fair, quilts and other
arts and crafts to be judged for prizes
will be displayed inside the Round-
house.
Another scheduling change from
last year is that on Friday, ' Sept.
11, a video auction for the 4-H Pork
Club will take place. The auction has
traditionally been held on the Fri-
day afternoon, but Wallace says last
year the 4-H Club members weren't
attracting very
high bids, so in
an attempt to
get higher offers,
the auction will
be held along
with the pork
carcass auction
at 7:30.p.m.

tion will take
place at 7 p.m.

proceeds split in
