Summer heat is lessening ambitions in Winthrop
Approximately two weeks of sum-
mer holidays are left for the school
children. I have some grandchildren
who are ready to go back.
Until the past week we have had
a cool summer. The humid days,
which we have had this past week,
sure lessen the ambition, in my case
anyway.
The guest speaker for August 16
at Cavan United
Church was Ruthimmis
Long. The speak-
er for August 23 is
Kathy Douglas, the youth co-ordina-
tor for this area.
I mistakenly reported last week that
Winthrop Road had been closed due
to an accident - it was North Line.
Sympathy of the community is ex-
tended to Annie Rap-
son, Jim and Zbm
and families on the
passing of Betty Rap-
son, daughter and sister. .
The Trans Can Motocross was on
this past weekend in Walton. I un-
derstand there were lineups to get
in with camping equipment, motor
bikes, etc. back as far as the Brus-
sels Line in Walton.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The bend in the road is not the end
of the road unless you fail to make
the turn.
