Big anniversary t�urnament expected to attract
more than 100 lawn bowlers to Seaforth

Tbday, Aug. 19 is the big anniver-
sary tournament of Art and Mary
Finlayson.
There will be 17 or 18 greens so
either 100 or 104 people will be
here bowling. Come . out and see
some of the action.
Last Saturday at Chesley, the
provincial Legion tournament was
held , with two local teams par-
ticipating. Ibm Phillips and Dave
Watson were the big winners and
Neil Beuerman and Roy Dalton
were third.
Also on Saturday in Clinton,
they only got one and a half games
in before -the rain. Lee Ryan and
Carol Carter were first, Dave
Ducklow and Kay Johns were
fifth, Fred Tilley and Dorothy
Mero were sixth and the consola-
tion winners were Bill Roberton
and Marilyn Lancaster.
Sunday, Aug. 9 in Lucknow, Rick
Wood and Murray McClure were
second, Rick and Barb Elliott
were third, fourth went to George
and Doris Cantelon and onsola-
tion went to Ken Rolph an
na Rose.
Wednesday, Aug. 12 in Grand

Cove saw Tom Phillips and Jean
Bewley win top prize. Bob Thomp-
son and Doris Hackwell were sec-
ond, fourth went to Dave Ducklow
and Kay Johns and consolation
went to Rick Wood and Trudy
Hill.
Thursday in Seaforth, a night
tournament saw Brad Fleming
and Ruth McKay win first, Bill
Roberton and Jean Bewley win
second, Glen and Denis Keene
come third, Jack and Marie Muir
in fourth, Rob Truax and Merna
came *fifth, Rick Wood and Trudy
Hill came sixth and Dave Duck -
low and Kay Johns won the conso-
lation.
Good luck to Carol- Carter and
Larry McLellan who are repre-
senting District 4 out west in the
Canadians this week.
Last week saw a nine -green
urnament in Seaforth with 18
ams playing off.
First place went to Lee Ryan
and Carol Carter, second went to
Neil -Beue I an and Jean Bewley
followed b Dave Ducklow and
Kay Jo ..8 z in third. Fourth were
B berton and Dora Mote,
fifth were Murray Laing and
Viola Taylor, sixth went to Jack
and Marie Muir and consolation
winners were Chuck and Cathy
Townsend.
Mitchell hosted during the holi-
day Monday on Aug. 3 with a
tournament and dessert. Jack
and Marie Muir came second,
Neil Beuerman and Dorothy Mero
were third and Dave Ducklow and
Marilyn Lancaster came fifth.
In Exeter on Aug. 5 at a men's
pairs tournament, Dave Ducklow
and Kevin Rumig placed third,
fourth went to Jack Muir and
Dave McMaster and consolation
winners were Rick Wood and Glen
Keene.
On July 22 in Lucknow, Larry
Hugill and Dorothy Mero were
first and Rick and Barb Elliott fin-
ished fourth.
In Mitchell on July 23, Jack and
Marie Muir were first, Rick and
Barb Elliott were second and Rick
Wood and Kay Johns won the con-
solation.
July 24 in London at WOBA,
Tom Phillips and Carol Carter
were third and Dave Ducklow and
Marilyn Lancaster were fourth.
Also on July 24, the club held a
barbecue and bowling for the Sills
trophy with four greens and 10
bowlers participating. Rick Wood
and Donelda Davis were first,
Jean Bewelly and Dora Mote were
second and Carol Carter and Ger-
ry were third.
July 19 in Seaforth saw Jim. and
Sue Roth in first; Ed and Ellen
Edward in second, Fred Tilley and
Donna Beuerman in third, Jack
and Marie Muir in fourth, Mur-
ray Lang and Viola Taylor in fifth,
Bill Roberton and Jean Bewley in
sixth and consolation prize going
to Lee Ryan and Carol Carter.
July 25 in Exeter, Fred Tilley
and Dorothy Mero were fourth
and Jack --and Marie Muir were
fifth.
St. Marys on July 26 was rained
out.
Don't forget the Anniversary
Tournament on Aug. 19.
The next potluck supper will be
on Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. because of the
Anniversary Tournament.

takes on Optimist
Club in annual
