Gladioli fundraiser aims to help as Epilepsy agency struggles

Epilepsy Huron -Perth is hoping a
campaign to sell gladioli flowers this
month will assist the agency during
some tough economic times.
Events co-ordinator Amanda Essex
• says this year, there are more people
with epilepsy to support while fund-
ing continues to be an issue.
"We're struggling to get funding,
that's why we need support now."
Essex says. "We get funding from
groups such as the United Way in
Huron and Perth and they didn't
raise as much this year; so we don't
either. It's a trickle down effect."
The gladioli will be sold Aug. 20-
21 at the Canada Post Office in Sea -
forth. One bunch of flowers will cost
$5 and two bunches will be sold for
$9.
Essex says the money that Epi-
lepsy Huron -Perth raises through
fundraisers helps pay for employees'
wages and for educational program-
ming at local schools.
The gladioli campaign has been
a regular fundraiser for Epilepsy
Huron Perth for many years and
raised $20,000 in Huron -Perth last
year, with Seaforth alone collecting
$2,000.
Along with selling gladioli, the
agency is also selling raffle tickets
for a number prizes, including a lap-
top computer, London Knights tick-
ets and more.
