'-t Y•3 t on Ra S✓ The purpose of these public sessions is to share information about the guidelines and criteria for the new Canada -Ontario Affordable Housing Programs. (Rental Housing Capital component will be held in the morning and the Homeownership component will be held in the afternoon). These information sessions will detail how interested proponents may apply through an Expression of Interest of up to $120,000 per unit to provide new, renovated or converted affordable housing in Huron County; or for potential new homeowners to participate in the Homeownership component where a maximum down payment of up to $19,679 per household is available for the purchase of a newly built home by qualifying households. At Carmel Presbyterian Church, Pastor Andy Meinen expressed condo- lences to Harry and Bev Moir and to Marg and Frank Varley on the passing of their brother-in- law. Joyce Pepper was the organist for the ministry of song. Robert Bell and Frank Varley received the offering. Carmel Pres- byterian Church will be closed for the month of Au- gust. Hensall Union Cemetery memorial and decoration day service was held on Sunday, July 26 at Carmel Pres- byterian Church due to inclement weather. Pastor Meinen conducted the service. Jamie Mitchell was the piper and Linda Street was the soloist. The board of directors are Lillian Beer, Doug Cooper, Lloyd Cooper, William Gibson, Grant McGregor, John Munn, Cecil Pepper, Allan Reid, William B Rowcliffe, Betty Simmons, William R Workman, Chairman Rob- ert Bell, and Secretary -Treasurer Joanne Rowcliffe. Members of Hensall Legion Branch 468 attended the service with Larry Uyl speaking on behalf of the Le- gion. A barn dance and show sponsored by the Hensall South Huron Agricul- tural Society at the Hensall Arena will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Did you know that in December 1942 in the upstairs of the Hensall Village Hall the late great Exeter - born Earl Heywood made his debut performance? The Fair Board is pleased that Earl's wife Martha Heywood and family are part of the line-up for this show. The other performers for -the show include Larry Mercey, John and Ge- neva Heaman, Betty Beer, Joe Over- holt, Brontae Hunter, Bob Heywood, and Hugh Elder along with the Barn Dance Band and the Millennium Cowboys Band. The show emcee is Jim Swan. Tickets for the event are $20 each and are on sale from board members and at D&D Variety in Hensall and Klip N Kurl in Hensall. The Goderich Horticultural Society has invited the Hensall and Commu- nity Horticultural Society to a pot- luck supper on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 6 p.m. at Harbour Park in Goderich. Three or four gardens will be visited.
