Huron East economic develop- ment officer Jan Hawley says the 42 - inch TV screens should be installed throughout Huron East by this fall when visitors begin flocking to the arenas 'and community centres as their children play winter sports. "You want to entice people to stay a little bit longer in the community and what better. way than getting the parents when they're waiting for their kids to finish up on the ice," say Hawley. • The plan is to have the TVs mount- ed on the wall in the lobby with a large map of the community below, detailing where each business is lo- cated and what they offer. The third piece is a brochure for the communi- ty that contains the same map visi- tors can take with them. Hawley is hoping that as the slide show plays on the TV screen, visi- tors might be enticed by a particular scene and want to look it up on the map for a visit. "If people see it when they gather in the lobby, they'll be introduced to the comj"iunity businesses go they'll shop or =go to a res- taurant while they're here. It's no different from when you go into a mall and have, a pictoral display of the busi- nesses there," she says. "The eye is attracted to the pretty pictures and then .you take the brochure with you as you go out the door," says Hawley. Hawley says the economic development department is into the second printing of 2,000 brochures for Seaforth and plans to have brochures printed for Brussels and Va- nastra. The maps were created by the GIS (geographic infor- mation system) department at the Huron County offices and • a graphic artist in Goder- ich. So far, the TV has only been installed in Brussels at the Brussels, Mor- ris and Grey Community • Centres. "The idea has been well re- ceived by the Plan to attend Equin Kl REACH's AgriTaEF HURON GRAND OPENING Saturday, September 12, 2009 169 Beech Street, just north of Clinton Raceway Doors open from 10 am to 6 pm Admission is FREE Just some of the attractions include: • Demo Clinic with Lindsay Grice • Maple the Milking Cow • EquiMania!! from Equine Guelph • Pig Mobile • Horse shoeing demonstrations • • Riding and Driving Demonstrations • Prince Philip Cup Games Demo • Breed Demonstratigns • Self-directed tours of REACH • ' Food booths with a variety of delicious menus from Huron County. Standing with arena. man- ager Murray McArter in front of the new plasma TV mounted in the lobby at the Brussels arena, economic development' officer Jan Hawley holds brochures in front of a downtown map of Seaforth to show how Huron East will be promot- ed this fall.
