Plasma TVs to promote Huron East in community centres
Susan Hundertn;ark

In an attempt to engage the fami-
lies of athletes who come to Huron
East, plasma TVs displaying a run-
ning slide show of scenes from Sea -
forth, Brussels and Vanastra will be
placed in the lobbied of all three com-
munity centres.
Huron East economic develop-
ment officer Jan Hawley says the 42 -
inch TV screens should be installed
throughout Huron East by this fall
when visitors begin flocking to the
arenas 'and community centres as
their children play winter sports.
"You want to entice people to stay
a little bit longer in the community
and what better. way than getting
the parents when they're waiting for
their kids to finish up on the ice," say
Hawley. •
The plan is to have the TVs mount-
ed on the wall in the lobby with a
large map of the community below,
detailing where each business is lo-
cated and what they offer. The third
piece is a brochure for the communi-
ty that contains the same map visi-
tors can take with them.
Hawley is hoping that as the slide
show plays on the TV screen, visi-
tors might be enticed by a particular
scene and want to look it up on the
map for a visit.
"If people see it when they gather
in the lobby, they'll be introduced to
the comj"iunity businesses
go they'll shop or =go to a res-
taurant while they're here.
It's no different from when
you go into a mall and have,
a pictoral display of the busi-
nesses there," she says.
"The eye is attracted to the
pretty pictures and then .you
take the brochure with you
as you go out the door," says
Hawley.
Hawley says the economic
development department is
into the second printing of
2,000 brochures for Seaforth
and plans to have brochures
printed for Brussels and Va-
nastra.
The maps were created by
the GIS (geographic infor-
mation system) department
at the Huron County offices
and • a graphic
artist in Goder-
ich.
So far, the TV
has only been
installed in

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance is moving forward with the planning of a new service delivery Model to meet
the changing healthcare needs of patients and families.
Our Vision 2013 plan reflects our commitment to ensure that a wide range of services continues to be available
within the service area of the Alliance, that all members of our healthcare team are able to use their skills and
expertise to the fullest extent possible and that each hospital remains an important part of the local healthcare
system. We want to get your feedback on our plans and gather your ideas for building stronger hospital-based
healthcare. We invite you to register to participate in one of our Community Workshops and/or to complete a
survey. Broader community meetings will also be held later this year, as an important part of our community
engagement activities.
