"Congratulations to all involved
and Huron is proud to be a part of
this project," he said. "We have to
look after health care and put our
money where our mouth is because
it is a different era. If we equip
hospitals now, all our hospitals
will remain vibrant and doctors
and nurses will be proud to work
in this area. I'm proud the county
was part of it and we need to make
health care great in Huron."
While the province's health min-
istry does not fund capital equip-
ment projects, it had to clear the
way for the foundation, to commit
to the fundraising effort. Huron -
Bruce Liberal MPP, Carol Mitchell,
lauded the efforts of local volun-
teers who saw the project fundrais-
ing effort through to a
successful conclusion.
"I'm so proud of the
community and there
was a strong, deter-
mined group effort to
see the CT project get
done," she said. "This
is an important diag-
nostic tool and it will
help attract physi-
cians. Hats off to all of
you. I am proud of this
community and I am
proud of the health-
care we provide."
For county physi-
cians and medical
staff, the availability
of a scanner will great-
ly enhance the provi-
sion of healthcare and
eliminate the need to
send patients out of the
county for diagnostic s
"This renovation
and renewal will
provide services
far superior to
what we had," Dr.
Don Neal said on
behalf of the hos-
pital's medical
staff. "The medi-
cal staff thanks
the community,
board and staff
for developing a
vision into real-
ity. Finally, the
great black hole
will be filled in
Huron County.
The medical staff
is thankful and
pleased."
