While the province's health min- istry does not fund capital equip- ment projects, it had to clear the way for the foundation, to commit to the fundraising effort. Huron - Bruce Liberal MPP, Carol Mitchell, lauded the efforts of local volun- teers who saw the project fundrais- ing effort through to a successful conclusion. "I'm so proud of the community and there was a strong, deter- mined group effort to see the CT project get done," she said. "This is an important diag- nostic tool and it will help attract physi- cians. Hats off to all of you. I am proud of this community and I am proud of the health- care we provide." For county physi- cians and medical staff, the availability of a scanner will great- ly enhance the provi- sion of healthcare and eliminate the need to send patients out of the county for diagnostic s "This renovation and renewal will provide services far superior to what we had," Dr. Don Neal said on behalf of the hos- pital's medical staff. On hand for the ceremony were from left in back, engineering manager Kevin Cassidy, ACW Reeve Ben Van Diepenbeek, executive director Heather Glenister, project manager Rick Bedard and in front, Dr. Don Neal, Warden Ken Oke, Huron -Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell and Goderich Mayor Deb Shewfelt. Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh Reeve, Ben VanDiepenbeek also credited staff and vol- unteers for following through on a vision and generating the $5 million required for the project. "The townships do- nated $100,000 for this important heal tool that will assist physi- cians and residents," he said. "Congratula- tions to all involved. It's great to be a part of the project."
