"We've covered an awful lot with -different kinds of groups," said Laura Overholt, proj- ect manager for HealthKick Hu- ron, a facilitator of the local pro- gram. Overholt says the five-day pro- gram was meant to give high school students a glimpse into what it's like to work in healthcare. "Really, it's to help them make they're interested in and maybe one that they didn't necessarily express inter- est in, just so that we make • sure they broaden their horizons and experience as much healthcare as pos- sible." noted `I think a lot of them came to realizations they didn't expect to come to,' -- Rosie .Grobbink MedQuest Camp co-organizer. decisions," she says. "Most of them are interested in healthcare already, so what they're trying to do is make some decisions about the career path they'd like to follow. Also, they're being exposed to other occupations they maybe haven't considered." Walton's Rosie Grobbink, who's helped plan and or- ganize the MedQuest Camp in Seaforth for the past two years, says it was important that this year's program give the students access to a wide range of healthcare professionals from different fields. "Each student is unique and has different inter- ests," Grobbink said.
