DANGEROUS
DRIVER
BACK AT IT
(GODERICH, Ont.) - It didn't take
long for this dangerous driver to get
back behind the wheel and drive
dangerously. Less than two weeks
ago the accused was released from
court with conditions to not be in
the driver's seat of a motor vehi-
cle and to not drive a motor vehicle.
So much for that, just after 11:00
a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017
Huron County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officers observed the
accused and two passengers get
into a Chevrole Monte Carlo that
was parked on amilton Street in
Goderich. The v_ icle quickly pulled
away with the accused driving.
Officers followed the vehi-
cle northbound on Victoria Street
and watched as the accused
passed a line of vehicles that
were stopped waiting for south-
bound traffic. The dangerous driver
sped through an active construc-
tion zone at the bridge located
at the north end of Goderich. The
driver then dangerously roared
by the flagman that was trying to
stop the flow of northbound traf-
fic and proceeded to travel into
the oncoming lane of traffic.
The OPP officer attempted to stop
the motor vehicle however the driver
sped away from police and was last
seen travelling onto Saltford Road.
Earlier this morning an OPP
officer spotted the male shop-
ping in Wingham. He was placed
under arrest and taken into cus-
tody without incident.
A 23 -year-old male from South
Bruce has been charged with Dan-
gerous Driving, Flight While Pur-
sued by Peace Officer, Fail to Com-
ply with Recognizance and Drive
While Under Suspension. He has been
held in custody for a court appear-
ance scheduled for tomorrow at the
Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
RACING CHARGE LAID
(BLUEWATER, Ont.) - A male driver
from Bluewater was charged with
Racing following a traffic stop
that took place on June 6, 2017 in
the Municipality of Bluewater.
At approximately 4:24 p.m. a
Huron County Ontario Provin-
cial Police (OPP) officer observed
a Chrysler Sebring travelling
northbound on Bluewater Vet-
erans Highway near Hendrick
Road at a high rate of speed.
The officer confirmed his visual
observations with a RADAR device
and was able to obtain a speed
measurement of the racing vehi-
cle at a speed in excess of 50km/h
over the posted 80 km/h zone. A
traffic stop was initiated and the
driver was subsequently charged.
A 24 year-old from Bluewater has
been charged with «Race a Motor
Vehicle - Excessive Speed. and
«Fail to Have Insurance Card.. He
now has a court appearance sched-
uled for this July at the Provin-
cial Offences Act Court in Goder-
ich. His licence was suspended for
seven days and his motor vehicle
was also impounded for the week.

(GODERICH, Ont.) - A daylong blitz
by the Ministry of Transporta-
tion (MTO) and Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officers from the South
Bruce, Perth & Huron County Detach-
ments has been deemed a success.
On June 16, the OPP officers and
an MTO officer conducted a Com-
mercial Motor Vehicle Safety Inspec-
tion station in the Town of Goderich.
The objective for the officers was to
identify, stop and check commer-
cial motor vehicles and their oper-
ators for compliance to the vari-
ous traffic laws and regulations.
In total, 32 vehicles were inspected
and a total of 16 Highway Traf-
fic Act (HTA) charges were laid.
Nine of the vehicles inspected
were placed out of service. The
drivers of these vehicles either
had to repair the damages or
have the vehicle towed off site.
The most common offence was
overweight vehicle and trailer
loads. The average overage was
3000 kilograms above the regis-
tered vehicle weight. Other identi-
fied offences were failing to have an
annual safety certificate, insecure
loads and documentation issues.
BRAZEN THEFT OF
PICKUP TRUCK
(SOUTH HURON, Ont.) - Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) offic-
ers continue to investigate a bra-
zen theft of a pickup truck stolen
that was stolen late last week.
On Friday, June 16th around 3:30
p.m. a group of employees were
working in a farmer's field located
on Kirkton Road near Bronson
Line when they observed some-
one pull up to their pickup truck.
The suspect got out of an older
model Dodge pickup truck and
quickly jumped into the unlocked
GMC pickup truck, located the
ignition key and quickly sped
off right before their eyes.
Some of the workers chased after
the truck but they lost sight of
the truck travelling eastbound on
Kirkton Road. Huron OPP offic-
ers patrolled the area for the stolen
truck however it was not located.
The stolen truck is described as
a black, 2016 GMC 2500 with
a 2 inch lift kit, chrome rims
and a bug deflector. Also sto-
len from inside the pickup were
a wallet and a pay cheque.
