Striker Jayda Dietz grabbed three'goals in the first half, Emily Maloney helped her out with two of her own, while Anna Wynja, Ella Brodhagen, and Torie Czajkowski walked away with one each. Flawless defence by Brodhagen, Cza- jkowski and MacKena VadenHengel left St. Colum - ban leading 8-0 after the first half. St. Columban came out strong in the second half with Wynja seizing one more, Brodhagen chipping in two more, and Heather Ogilvie landing her first. Goderich was finally able to sneak one past them midway through the second, but it was far too late. St. Columban stole the game 12-1 St. Columban U9 girls headed to Wingham for their first away game of the season on Thursday, June 8th. With a short roster the team called up some house league players. Playing seven on the field and no subs, the girls hustled to a 5-0 victory. Ella Brodhagen's pair of goals lead the team 2-0 into the second half. She then put one more in the net with Grace Kipfer following with a pair of her own. Late in the second half the girls were run- ning out of steam but still managed to hold their ground. They all played a fan- tastic defensive game with Wingham unable to slip any by them. Great game ladies! ■ soccer scores U9 Boys U 11 Girls Celtic On May 18, the U11 Celtic girls hosted the Taxandria Falcons for their first match of the season. Under a cool sky, the girls started slowly, but ended with a bang! The senior girls of the team, took control and held the play in the Falcon's end. Near the end of the first half, the Fal- cons materialized on a turn- over, and notched the first goal. After re -grouping at halftime, the home team was unstoppable. Ava Robinson was dynamite, and scored all four goals, with assists from Abby Wynja, Campbell Ryan, Harmony England -Hunt , and Kate Maloney. Court- ney Roth played well in net. Final score 4-1 St. Columban. U11 Girls Shamrock U 11 Boys Celtic Van Loon Leads the Way as the U 11 Celtics Beat Blyth On Monday June 5th Jack VanLoon scored three goals to lead the St. Columban U 11 boys Celtic to an 8-1 win over Blyth. Jack Nolan and Darwin MacDougald added two each and Kyle Mills had one helper to finish out the scoring. Aiden England - Hunt and Nolan Vessie each played well in net to hold the visitors to one goal. The lads came ready to play this week and it showed. The boys determined play carried them to victory. U 11 Boys Shamrock A night of wind, clouds, rain, sun, and long grass •v 110001/1771 • FRIDAYJUNE 16 llam-5pm brought the Shamrocks to Clinton's Flemming Field for another Monday night of soccer. Cohen Marshall scored three times to take an impressive lead with help from all. Clinton answered back with one goal to end the first half as well as Jack- son Dietz to keep the three - goal margin. Clinton would score again just seconds before the final whis- tle. Game ended Shamrocks 4 and Clinton Gold 2. lace Barnesky once again played a strong game in net as well as the mighty defence. Great game boys. We have our first W. U13 Girls U13 Boys Celtic On Tuesday, June 6th the team travelled to Blyth and braved the cold spring night to win 5-4. Cam Smith scored twice, Ty Hoste scored twice and Dylan Follett scored once. Assists were recognized by Dylan Follett, Johny Ryan (2), Ty Hoste and Jason Mills. Strong goal tending was dis- played by Nathan Fell and Mike O'Rourke. U13 Boys Shamrock Friday Night Win! The 1113 Shamrocks enjoyed a fun night of soccer on Friday, June 2 in St. Columban. The team worked together to win over Blyth with a score of 9-2. The goals were scored by the following players: Ayden Sheppard scored two goals, Eric Gulutzen scored two goals and single goals were also scored by Brett Poir- ier, Brayden Gridzak, Brayden Vosper, Kyle Dolmage, and Jonathan tenHag. U15 Girls U15 Boys U18 Girls St Columban U18 girls suf- fered a two nil loss to a very solid Wingham team on June 7. It was a well -played match with chances at both ends but the home squad could not find the back of the net. The score was in no way indicative the effort deliv- ered by the St Columban girls. Several bad bounces were the order of the day, not to mention two goal posts and a cross bar, hit by Sarah Van Bakel, Khloee Eisler and Kiara Driscoll respectively. Nicki Van Bakel was solid in goal U18 Boys The U18 Boys played in Blyth on June 8th. The score was 7-1 for Blyth.
