Brussels lour Winds has begun
the construction process for a busi-
ness many believe will bring life
back to a town that has seen
brighter days.
Located at 60 Orchard Lane in
Brussels, the project is expected to
cost roughly $500,000 to complete;
currently the team of builders is
focused on erecting the main
barn.
This is where the wedding centre
will be located, followed by a Farm-
er's Market being added below.
"The main thing right now is the
event barn," stated Barb Terpstra,
in charge of the business aspect of
the project.
Terpstra is hopeful that the barn
will be finished and available to the
public by fall of this year.
Other buildings will be com-
pleted as time progresses; includ-
ing the stable with a lower level
housing a bakery and the top floor
concentrating on other initiatives
not determined at this time.
"There is lots of things coming to
light, with people interested in
using the space," stated Terpstra
May 24.
"We are sorting through of what
is going to be most viable."
The owner of Brussels Four
Winds, Bryan Morton has made
cedar shakes, which will match the
roof of the silo.
"The community of Brussels is
engaged in the re -incarnation of
this 150 year old, local barn in the
heart of the village. Many residents
and neighbours are helping in the
construction," stated from the
Brussels Four Winds Facebook
page.

100 years in service

Canada Day is just around the
corner and while our country cele-
brates the 150 -year anniversary of
confederation, the Seaforth Lions
Club is rejoicing in the century
milestone of its fore -fathered
organization, which provides
humanitarian services worldwide.
In 1917, a Chicago entrepreneur,
by the name of Melvin Jones was
believed to be the founder of the
Lions Club, which is considered to
be the largest service club in the
world, accommodating 1.4 million
members in 210 countries.
Only a handful of years later the
Seaforth Lions Club sprung into
action and by 1926, the Seaforth
Lions Park was established.
"We were the very first few char-
tered in Ontario or in Canada actu-
ally," stated Seaforth Lions presi-
dent, Bryan Vincent, one of the 16
active members.
With such a meaningful period
of time as a global entity, the Lions
Club has purchased specially made
100th anniversary flags.
Some clubs purchased one flag
while the Seaforth Lions decided to
go above and beyond and bought
two.
One is hanging at the Lions Park
and the other is flying at the Town
Hall in Seaforth.
"I know the municipality appre-
ciates what the Lions Club does in
Huron East," stated Vincent.
Vincent said it only made sense
to post the flags in the month of
May.
"You get into June and obviously
July 1 being the 150th of Canada,
there will be Canada flags flying
everywhere," he said.
To Vincent's knowledge there
were about 300-400 flags pur-
chased from the Seaforth Lions'
district.
