(HURON-KINLOSS, Ont.) - Huron
County & South Bruce Ontario
Provincial Police (OPP) officers,
along with members from the
West Region Tactics and Rescue
Unit (TRU), Emergency Response
Team (ERT), Canine Unit and
Aviation Services - Helicopter
Section remain on and in the
immediate area of a farm prop-
erty located just south of Ripley.
Due to safety concerns for
all involved parties police are
restricting public access around
the containment site located just
south of Ripley between Con-
cession 4 and Concession 6.
Earlier today police searched
for the involved male on a
farm property located in Huron
County. Despite an exten-
sive search the male was not
located. Regular public access
to the area around Belfast Road
resumed early this afternoon.
Police believe the involved
male is in illegal possession
of a firearm. He is 29 years of
age, 6> tall, and weighs around
200 pounds. He has a medium
build with black hair. He was
last seen wearing blue jeans
and a brown sweatshirt.
As always, homeowners are
encouraged to secure their
property and vehicles. Lock
your vehicles when they
are unattended and always
pocket your ignition key.
OPP is requesting residents in the
area to report any suspicious per-
sons or suspicious activity on or
in relation to your property. Should
this male be observed on your
property do not confront the male;
call police by dialing 9-1-1.
This investigation is ongoing,
further information will be pro-
vided as it becomes available.
DRUG EDUCATION
FORUM IN EXETER
- ALL INVITED
(HURON COUNTY, Ont.) - The
Huron County Youth Jus-
tice Committee Program
is looking forward to host-
ing another Drug Education
Forum next week for those at
live in the Exeter area. Build-
ing on the success of two pre-
vious events held in Wingham
and Goderich the Exeter event
promises to be an informa-
tive and entertaining evening.
The date to mark on your cal-
endar is Wednesday, May 17,
2017 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00
p.m. and the place to be at is
the South Huron District High
School located at 92 Gid -
ley Street East in Exeter.
Have you heard about the dan-
gers of Fentanyl? Did you know
that you cans see it; you cant
smell it and you can't taste
but a quantity as small as
two milligrams can kill you.
Have your kids been talking
about «Molly Pops» or «Pur-
ple Drank»? Do you have
any clue what they are talk-
ing about? This community
drug forum is your chance
to get informed on these
drugs and many more.
Presentations from a Huron
County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) Community Drug
Action Team (CDAT) mem-
ber and a local pharmacist will
be two of the highlights. Par-
ents, youth workers, counsel-
lors, teachers and any other
interested community mem-
bers are encouraged to attend.
This visual presentation will
touch on relevant topics such
as: Drug Identification, The
Effects of Drugs on the Body,
Drug Paraphernalia, Prescrip-
tion Misuse & Abuse, Street
Lingo, Emerging Drugs and
Safety Concerns. Huron OPP
will also have on hand interac-
tive alcohol & marihuana «Fatal
Vision» goggles. These gog-
gles are designed to simu-
late some of the cognitive and
physical effects of impairment
by alcohol and marihuana.
Additionally, the Huron County
Health Unit will have resources
available for parents that have
children that may be experi-
menting with illegal drugs
or underage drinking.
«One of our goals with the Drug
Education Forum is to engage par-
ents and arm them with as much
information as possible on a topic
that isn't common knowledge
for most. With some increased
awareness and knowledge, par-
ents will be in a better position
to identify the warning signs of
illicit drug use. It is very difficult
to have a conversation with your
son or daughter if you don't know
the language or have any idea
what they are talking about. This
is an excellent opportunity to get
informed on a topic that touches
so many of our youth today".
- Huron County Youth Jus-
tice Committee Chair &
Huron County Crown Attor-
ney, Teresa Donnelly
«We know drug traffick-
ers and distributers can reach
into our communities, large
and small. We also under-
stand the serious and devas-
tating impacts of the illegal use
and abuse of drugs can have
on a community's safety and
well-being. With that being
said, we are very pleased to
have the opportunity to part-
ner with the Youth Justice Com-
mittee to bring this informative
Drug Education Forum to Exeter.
Collaboratively with our com-
munity partners, citizens and
neighbours we can build safer
and healthier communities"
