From May 4-5 the area received an abundance of rain showers, this posed problems as the ground was already saturated. The derby rules are as followed: •No fishing before 7 a.m. .You must be 14 years of age or younger .No snagging •No use of lures .Limit of two fish per child •Fish must be caught and landed by child On the day of the event, registration launches at 6:45 a.m. and prizes are expected to be given out at 11:00 a.m. Fence at Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club declared a "safety hazard," so they're getting a new one Shaun Gregory Huron Expositor The fence surrounding the Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club is slanting; so Huron East council has accepted a proposal to replace it. From a report com- pleted by Huron East dep- uty clerk, Mark Gilpin, it stated that the fence is currently situated on con- crete slabs and over time these pieces of cement have caused the fence to lean. Besides age, road salt has also played a contrib- uting factor, in what Gilpin is calling a "safety hazard." There were previous procedures put in place to "shim the fence's concrete posts," but those measures have proven to be ineffective. There were ideas brought forth to poten- tially rebuilding the exist- ing fence onto a stronger foundation, however the cost has proven to be too much. Instead Science Fence & Deck was chosen for the task with a cost of roughly $15,000 to build a new iron fence. Gilpin said the fence is slated for installation in mid-June.
