has been transferred to Toronto. He
and Mrs. Rousom (nee ;GIadye .Bissett)
are now in the ,queen City.

E. Donnelly exchanged pulpits on Sun-
day hast, the latter preaching Sunday
school anniversary sermons. Large
congregations heard Rev. Garbutt,
who preached very acceptably.
Hon. John, S. Martins Ontar o's tal-
ented minister of agriiculture, was in-
jured in an automobile accident near
Port Dover on Thursday, when this car.
dropped into a hole and threw him
against the top, wrenching his back.
He Will be. laid up far two weeks,

Miss Eva Carling, daughter of the
late Thomas. B. Carling, whet has been

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
The annual congregational meeting
of James Street Methodist Church
took place on, Friday reven;:nig when a
large number were. present, Favorable
reports were received from Ithe differ-
ent organizations of the church, all of
them being an good, financial'•condititon,
The average attendance at ;the Sunday
School was shown to be 275. The
pastor, Rev. Donnelly, gave an inter-
esting talk, Miss Elva Harveyl.and Mrs;
Wm Gardiner sang solos and" :he or-
chestra gave several selections. A
lunch was served by the ladies.
The membership report in 'spite of
the removal of 12.members; by letter
and 10 by death, showed a net in-
crease of 9, making the total present
membership 680. The finance com-
mittee reported that 54636 had been
raised during the year for' current ex-
penses, and in addition the voluntary
giviings to Education,, Social Service
and Religious Education had been
doubled. After all the demands, on
the year's budget have been, met the
committee have over $300 of {a balance
in the treasury, The missionary v.'ork
Of the year has ialso'ob+een highly sa,ti,s
factory. Fox the general missionary
fund $1800 was raised.; 'through' the
Women's 1Vlissomary Society, including
the _Mission Circle and ;Brand $844 more

-Any person who takes a paper reg-
ularly from the post office, whether
addressed in his name or anothers, or
whether he has subscribed or not, is
responsible for payment.
If a person orders his paper discon-
tinued he must pay all arrears, or the
publisher may continue to send it until
payment is made and then collect the
whole amount whether the paper is
taken or not.
The courts have decided that refus-
ing too take newspapers or periodicals
from the ,past office, or removing them
and leaving them unpaid, is prima facie
evidence of intention, of fraud.
