The Heat skated nine teams in the 2016-2017 sea- son, in addition to the Fun- damentals program, which is aimed at developing our youngest athletes. The over- whelming degree of success experienced is largely due to the commitment of so many community volunteers. Thank you to each and every individual who helped bring this association together and put 144 female athletes on the ice. Our generous com- munity is also to thank for many sponsorships. We couldn't do it without every- one pulling in the same direction. We are proud to have many teams with highly suc- cessful seasons. Success comes in a variety of forms and to see alt our players develop skill, love for the game and positive character traits is just as important as the result on the scoreboard at the end of each game. At the Fundamentals level, improvement was evident week to week with these girls and we are so excited to see many of these athletes returning to the Heat next season to compete. Our Novice HL team was an energetic bunch and the disco dance parties in the dressing room pumped them up for every game. This team fin- ished off their season with two silver performances - one as league finalists and in their year-end invita- tional tournament. Novice B was truly `heating it up' all season long, qualifying for Provincials, winning their Lower Lakes Female Hockey League (LLFHL) division and going on to earn the prestigious title of LLFHL Champion at Tour- nament of Champions. Our Atom C team had an uphill climb all season long but never gave up and learned the value of perseverance when they went on to earn Western Ontario Girls Hockey League (WOGHL) Gold. The Atom B girls were on fire both on and off the ice. These girls trained hard with shooting challenges from coaching staff, cross -fit training and of course at practice. Finalists in league playoffs and a strong showing at Provincials were highlights for this team. Peewee C's brought together a bunch of fabulous girls and staff who battled hard all sea- son long and captured Gold at an invitational tournament which sent them into playoff season on a high. Just narrowly missing Provincial qualifi- cation, this team still fin- ished strong as Finalists in WOGHL Championships. Our Peewee BB team worked hard on and off ice, playing some tough com- petition in this division all year. These girls advanced as far as round two in league playoffs and beat Huron -Perth rivals to advance to Provincials. The Bantam BB team had a phenomenal season both in tournament play and reg- ular season games. Champi- onship Weekend brqught a 4th place finish in. all of LLFHL and of course the absolute highlight being their stellar performance at Provincials where they went 6-0 in some gritty games to earn the title of All Ontario Champions. Congratula- tions to our Midget C team who played many amazing games together and com- peted well in regular sea- son, tournament play and in playoff season, missing Pro- vincial qualification by the narrowest of margins. Our Midget B teams played some high-level hockey and were extremely successful both in regular season and tournament play, earning both silver and gold. We are fortunate to have these leaders from the midget teams in our organi- zation who show our younger athletes that hockey is a game to be played all through the years. We look forward to our spring team selection pro- cess and welcome girls of all ages and all skill levels to come join this momentum - filled organization where fun, friendships and a love for Canada's game are always growing.
