Huron County wants access to high-speed Internet service
Improving access to high-
speed internet in 1luron
County is a priority of County
Council.
"High-speed Internet
access is about connecting
small businesses to the mar-
ketplace and our youth to
their future," said Warden
Jim Ginn. "The County of
Huron is working together
with local Internet service
providers to expand access
to high-speed broadband in
our region.'
Today, Council passed a
motion to support, in princi-
pal, an application to the
federal Connect to Inno-
vate program put forward by
Coincentric - a cooperative
of the local Internet service
providers. 'Ihe proposal out-
lines a plan to build infra-
structure that connects
98 per cent of the county's
population with high-speed
fibre optic Internet access
over a three year period. "1'o
leverage federal investment,
County Council is prepared
to invest S7 milllion over 7
years to fund this project.
"Improving connectivity
in Huron County is some-
thing we need to do," added
kVarden Ginn. "However, we
cannot build broadband
infrastructure alone and are
calling on the federal gov-
eminent to partner with us."
The Connect to Innovate
application is due at the end
of April, at which time the
federal government will
review the proposal. Over
the coming months, County
staff and Concentric will
develop a detailed business
plan that ensures best value
for any public money
invested in this project.
I tome to 60,000 fulltime
residents, Huron County is
one of the most agricultur-
ally productive regions in
Ontario. Major sectors of the
local economy are agri-buis-
ness, manufacturing, profes-
sional services and tourism

BRICK PILLARS AND
WOOD SIDING
In this three-bedroom home, two of
the bedrooms share a bathroom on
the partial second floor, providing an
ideal space for older children.
On the ground floor, a covered entry
leads into a foyer with a coat closet
to the right, adjacent to a two-piece
lavatory and the U-shaped stairway
to the secondary bedrooms upstairs.
The open-plan great room boasts
a gas fireplace, as well as Targe
windows looking out to a covered
patio and the back garden beyond.
Also overlooking the back garden is
the dining room, with a doorway to
the covered patio, a perfect spot for
al fresco meals.
The kitchen, separated from the
great room by a work island with a
double sink, features an L-shaped
counter configuration. A double-
doored pantry provides extra
storage.
The master bedroom includes a
window seat. The soaker tub in
the en suite provides a touch of
luxury, and the double basins will
be welcome during the morning
rush-hour. Adjacent to the en suite
is a spacious walk-in closet. A den,
located near the entry, includes a
storage closet, allowing this room
to double as a guest room or home
office.
Upstairs, both bedrooms feature a
window seat and both have access
to the bathroom, which includes
double sinks. A linen cupboard is
located at the top of the staircase,
which is protected by railings.
The double garage has a door to
the side garden, as well as access
to the laundry room, which includes
storage space and shelving.
An unfinished basement is included
in the plans.
Exterior details include wooden
siding and painted trim, as well as
