BAKER, Carol Ruth - Passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Gar Baker for 57 years, and loving mother of Tracy Mallen (Brian) of Tottenham and Jayne Baker of London. Carol's pride and joy were her three grandchildren, Spencer, Andrew, and Emily Mallen. Dear sister of Marilyn Meinhardt (Bob) of Florida, Glenn Chesney (Marilyn) of Seaforth, and the late Grant Chesney (Karen). Predeceased by her parents, Hugh and Sadie (nee Howatt) Chesney and her in-laws of the Baker family. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Carol's passions were family, children and friends. Her grandchildren always came for holidays and she was available to babysit friends' children any time. She loved games and played bridge weekly. Hockey was a big part of her life. Carol attended Westervelt College and after graduation worked in law firms until her children came along. Later Carol enjoyed employment that granted her the freedom to vacation in the summer with Gar. Carol was an integral part of Seaforth; working on elections and the 1995 Seaforth Homecoming. She won the Citizenship Award for Humanitarian Service in 1989. Carol was an active member of Northside United Church and a principal organizer for the 150th anniversary of the church. Special mention to CCAC and PSWs - you touched her heart and she was ever grateful for your help, Drs. Agnes and Andrezej Kluz who are heroes to the Baker family, Seaforth Community Hospital doctors and nurses, dear neighbours and close friends for their companionship and thoughtfulness. Carol will be remembered for the compassion she always showed to others. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Cremation has taken place and memorial visitation will be held at Northside United Church, 54 Goderich St. W., Seaforth, on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, from 12 p.m. until the time of Carol's memorial service to celebrate her life at 2 p.m., with Rev.
