From sunglasses, prescription eye glasses or just the lenses -the salvaged items are delivered to regional Lions recycling drop zones where they are repaired, fitted and cleaned. • The year round project focuses on people who will ben- efit the most from the eye wear, Bryan Vincent, Seaforth Lions President says third -world countries are prime candidates for the donations. In remote and poverty- stricken nations, this effort can be the determining factor of an employment opportunity or sig- nifying an elderly's independ- ence, according to the Lions Club. Vincent said he is not certain of what countries receive the donation, but the prerequisites are those in "need." Currently the Seaforth Lions have collected about 250 pairs of glasses in 60 days and Vincent is wishing to increase those numbers. "It's critical for us as a com- munity," Vincent sated Feb. 16. Last year hundreds were donated as well because the community's involvement has always been vigorous, he said. "I can remember going to the clinic as a kid, 30-40 years ago and having a box there to drop off for glasses," Vincent commented.
