She dem- onstrated that recently by raising $1800 for Hunter Costello, a toddler from Goderich whom she has never met. Tiesma first heard about Hunter, who is fighting leu- kemia, after her great aunt bought her a stuffed animal from a local pharmacy that was selling them as a fund- raiser for Hunter and his family. Tiesma's mom, Eunice, said, "The week after that, she mentioned Hunter to me many times and finally she said, 'I want to raise money for Hunter and his family:" She made .a goal; she would raise $1500 or dye her hair blue. Money came in from family, friends, cowork- ers, and friends of friends from across Ontario. However part way through fundraising, it became evident that if she wanted to reach her goal, she would have to try a new technique. That was when she decided to sell her grandmother's homemade Portuguese bread for donations. Her and her grandma were able to make and sell 29 loaves of bread together, putting her well over her $1500 goal at $1800. She did not have to dye her hair.
