Huron Expositor, 2017-01-11, Page 5It's 2017 and
I've had enough
of this gut
he gyms are packed;
wallets are unno-
ticeable when we take a
seat. It may be for the rea-
son we have just a little
too much blubber on our
behinds from the gluttony
we displayed during the
fabulous Christmas din-
ner filled with succulent
turkey, gravy and stuff-
ing we devoured.
Along with a shortage
of Canadian currency
from buying gifts, it's
rather difficult to notice
an emuty piece of leather,
especially if you've
gained 20 pounds,
All in all, it's safe to say
for our overgrown body's
sake the holidays have
come to a foreseeable end
none too soon!
As the Expositor's front
page catches up with the
revolving door of time
with a fresh 2017 added to
our date, I'm following a
trend most people are
undertaking -a New Year's
resolution.
And since I'm topping
on the scale at a waltzing
200 pounds, my number
letter to the editor
A big "thank you" to the
Seaforth and area commu-
nity that supported the
Huron County Christmas
Bureau again this year.
The response was over-
whelming and due to your
generosity, many children
were remembered at
Christmas that might oth-
erwise have gone without.
We were able to provide
approximately 90 children
with new clothing, toys/or
gift cards and each mem-
ber of each family with a

one goal is to get in
shape.
I'm not just talking
pumping iron every day at
the gym.
Diet is part of the pro-
gram as well, since it's
believed by many suppos-
edly scientific fitness
buffs that for the best
results one should con-
centrate on 70 per cent
nourishment and 30 per
cent fitness.
I'm pretty proud to say
it's been five days of no
breads, red meats or fried
food.
My food consumption
strictly circles around
whole foods. Canned
gift card for their local gro-
cery store.
This year the Christmas
Bureau was held at the
First Presbyterian Church
due to the Agriplex being
committed to host another
event between collection
and distribution weeks.
We are grateful for all the
cooperation of all the local
churches, schools and
businesses that assisted us
with advertising, drop
boxes and made special
donations etc. There are
tuna, chicken, salads,
fruits, boiled eggs and
oatmeal.
For now, the results are
amazing.
That's the thing with
the dedication of working
out and ensuing a healthy
lifestyle. One minute
you're eating as virtu-
ouslyeas an Olympic
track and field athlete
and thirty seconds later
you're parked on your
couch watching the lat-
est episode of the Walking
Dead with a can of cola in
one hand and a bag of
tasty Doritos in the other.
It only takes a moment
and that motivation is
thrown out the window.
I'm in my 30's now and
I'm getting sick of battling
back and forth in the gym
to get rid of my belly that
looks like I'm nine
months pregnant.
Signing out from the
office on Main Street,
Shaun AKA the guy who is
trying his best to turn this
flab into some washboard
abs, wish me luck folks
because I'm wishing you
all the same.
too many people to thank
personally, but please
know each one of you
helped to make this event
a success and made our
job as hosts, much easier.
Special thanks, to the
Children's Aid Society that
plan all year to make this
all possible. Blessings to
each one of you, now and
always.
Sincerely,
-Ruth Snell and Elaine
Floyd, site managers.
