Retiring teachers hope to volunteer, supply teach at SPS

graduation.
"It's been interesting watching
them grow," she says.
She's also been very involved in the
creation of SPS's peace garden.
"It's been satisfying seeing it de-
velop after so much planning and
work,". she says.
Kale is also hoping to supply teach
at SPS.
"I couldn't just cut it off - I'd miss
the kids too much," she says.
Reynolds began her teaching ca-
reer in Howick, before settling in at
Seaforth Public School in 1973.
She's taught just about every
grade at the school and her passion
for sports has led to
coaching positions in
volleyball, soccer, bas-
ketball, track and field
and more.
"I've always wanted
the kids to do their
best," she says. "If it
means winning, that's
fine, but if it's not, that
was OK too. I've had a
lot of really good ath-
letes go through here
and it really means
a lot when they come
back and say, 'you got
me started in the right
direction.'"

it'll be a little strange
not being around the
school schedule of morn-
ing announcements, re-
cess bells and students.
"That is going to be
the hard part," she says.
"That I can do whatever
I want, when I want, if I
want."

She also says there might be a
position available to her with the
Ministry of Education as a promoter
of broomball in the winter, organiz-
ing grassroots clinics for different
schools.
When thinking about the all the
years spent at Seaforth Public
School, Reynolds says she is definite-
ly going to miss her fellow teachers,
especially Griffin.
"It's going to be strange on those
snow days when we're not here hold-
ing down the fort or working on re-
port cards or being there for one an-
other," sjie says.
