Blyth Festival annual book sale set for June 5 -
Books, books, books! Whether
you are an avid reader or an inte-
rior designer, you'll find treasures
galore at the Blyth Festival's an-
nual used book sale on June 5 and
6 in Blyth Memorial Community
Hall.
This event is a major fundraiser
for the theatre's operating fund,
having raised well in excess of
$100,000 over its 32 years.
Admission is free and you'll find
wonderful hard and soft covers,
harlequins, videos, board games,
children's s books, sheet music, cd s,
tapes and records all at bargain
prices.
The sale is open Friday evening
June 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Satur-
day, June 6 from 9 a:m. to 2 p.m.
And, you'll want to take a break
from browsing to try a piece of
Lynda's famous rhubarb custard
pie. Full pies will be available to
take home (pre -orders are recom-
mended).
"Books are the quietest and most
constant offriends, they are the
most accessible and wisest of coun-
selors, and the most patient of
teachers," said Charles W. Eliot.
Books are a great: decor accent,
whether they are featured in a
built-in bookshelf orplaced on
an accent table for effect to make
a room complete. varying sizes,
colours and textures make the
great finishing items in any room.
You don't want to' miss this sale.
It's a great opportunity to stock up
for summer reading.

Garage sale at Cavan .United Church on June
We had some beautiful warm
spring days in Winthrop and now it
is raining. I guess we needed some
moisture. The corn is showing up
in the field.
Rev. John's sermon at Cavan
United Church was titled "The Bi-
ble." Greeters and collectors were
Don and Maja Dodds.
Sympathy of the community is
extended to Rev. John and . Nata-
lie on the passing of John's mother
Margaret. She was a very sweet lit-
tle lady and will be
missed. A memorial
service was held at
Northside United Church on Sat-
urday.
Upcoming events at Cavan are
the garage sale on June 6 from 7
a.m. to noon, a baptism on June 14
at the regular service and the year-
ly service at the ball park on June
28 with brunch to follow.

Residents mourn death
of Ben Nyland
Dublin residents
are deeply sad-
dened by the death
of Ben Nyland, who
passed away at Ritz Lutheran Villa,
Mitchell, after a lengthy illness.
Sympathy to his wife '-.'heresa and
to their family Ben and Theresa
helped out at St. Patrick's Church,
Dublin, making banners for the
church, helping with communion
and in many other ways.
Fifty-one young people from St.
Patrick's, Dublin and St. Vincent de
Paul, Mitchell, received the sacra-
ment of Confirmation with Bishop
Ronald Peter Fabbro officiating.

hockey games in which grandson -
Sheldon Pryce was a participant.
Irma Pryce returned from attend-
