He's known around the school for
his legendary work ethic, but also as
•someone who will drop everything
when a student needs guidance.
"I enjoy my work,", he says. "I work
with a great bunch of people."
• Flanagan is a member of the St.
James Parish council and has been
attending the church for 25 years.
He says he invited his entire family
•to attend the award ceremony, where
he and others each received a plaque
for their accomplishments. •
"It is a great honour," Flanagan
says.- "It's nice to be recognized for
something you love to do."
• Seaforth resident. Mary Verberne
was nominated for the award by the
staff at Holy Name of Mary School in
St. Marys, where she has worked as
• an educational assistant for the past
six years.
"I guess they just felt I go over and.

ber of the Faith Committee and Peer
Pals Leadership Team.
As a member of the St. James
Church choir, Verberne organized
the group to go caroling at apart-
ment buildings in Seaforth .during
the Christmas season.
As a member of the Catholic Wom-
en's League, she is an honour guard
at funerals for other members.
She and her husband Richard have
also taken into their home two chil-
• dren as part of the Huron Respite.

Verberne has also volunteered in
her community on projects that help
support breast cancer research and
Wellspring Cancer Support Centres.
Another award whirler, Fran Craig,
lived in Seaforth and worked for the
Huron -Perth Catholic District School
Board from 1974-2004, before retir-
ing and moving to Sauble Beach.
She taught at St. James School for
‘-five Years before becoming principal
• of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School
and later, St. Marys School in God-
erich. She then iforked at the School
Board office as a co-ordinator of in-
formation and communication tech-
nology. She finished her career by
coming back to St. James School to
work as principal, from 2001-2004.

reer working with kids," Craig says.
Currently, she is the curriculum
manager for the Catholic Curriculum
Consortium, working with teachers
and administrators at schools to help
infuse the Catholic faith into tike stu-
dents' lemming.

"We're called to,. as much as pos-

action," Craig says. "To bring the
students and our staff and our whale
community to be an example of our
faith." •
Craig is also president of her local
parish council and Catholic Women's
League.
"Mother Teresa said, 'Do small
things with great love.' I guess that
is what we are all called to.do," Craig
