St. James School held its annual
track and field meet on May 15. with
junior and senior athletes vying for
a spot at the regional competition
at St. Anne's Secondary School next
month.
In the senior boys' division, Michael
Kramers placed first in the 100 me-
tre dash, first in the 400 metre run
and first in the running long jump.
Kenny Van Bakel earned firsts in
the 200 metre dash and triple jump.
He also finished second in the 100
metre dash, 400 metre run, the 800
metre run and the running long
jump. He placed third in shot put.
Max Jansen placed first in the 800
metre run, second in the 200 me-
tre dash and third in the 400 metre
run.
Tyler Primeau finished in first in
shot put,. third in the 100 metre dash
and second in triple jump. -
Dan Dobson earned second place in
shot put, third in running long jump
and third in triple jump.
Jeremy Chisholm finished third in
the 800 metre run.
In the senior girls' division, Shelby
Janmaat earned first place finishes

finish in the 400 metre run and sec-
ond in the 800 metre run. He also
took third in running long jump.
Will Marcy finished first in run-
ning long jump and took second in
triple jump.
Timmy McGrath finished first in the
ball throw.
Isaac Bruxer finished third in the
200 metre dash and Jake Nigh took
third in the 400 metre. run. Rory
Whelan finished in third in the 800
metre run.
In the intermediate girls' division,
Sarah Devereaux finished first in the
100 -metre dash, 400 metre run and
in triple jump: She also took third in
running long jump.
Taylor Janes finished first in the
200 metre run, second in, the run-
ning long jump and second in triple
jump.
Katrina Siebert earned a first place
finish in the 800 metre run.
Karissa Eckert placed second in
the 200 metre dash, the 800 metre
run and the ball throw. She also fin-
ished third in triple jump.
Kate Flanagan finished first in the
ball throw and Ashley Upshall took,
third.
Brianna Klaver placed third in the
100 metre run and Jessica McGregor
finished third in the 200 metre. Jes-
sie Janson finished third in the 400
metre run and Nikki VanMiltenberg
took third in the 800 metre run.

Abbie Morden took third in the ball
throw.
The top finishes in each event will
advance to a regional track meet at
St. Anne's Secondary School in Clin-
ton on June 9.
St. Anne's and CHSS prepare
for OFSAA West regionals
Several athletes from Central Hu-
ron Secondary School, including
Sea forth's Luke Harrison, will be ad-
vancing to the OFSAA West region-
als this week.
Harrison earned a second place fin-
ish in the 300 metre hurdles in the
junior boys' division last week at the
WOSSAA competition held at the
University of Western Ontario in
London.
Other track and field athletes from
CHSS joining Harrison at OFSAA are
Brodie Cairns, Jeff Plaetzer and the
junior boys' 4x100 metre relay team,
which includes Harrison, Cairns,
Dylan Lambert and Ty Watson.
Cairns finished third in the triple
jump in the junior boys' division and
Plaetzer finished fifth in the junior
boys' discus event.
The OFSAA West regionals will be
held in Kitchener May 29-30.
"Personal bests will have to be
made to get through this next level,"
says Cindy Carter, the cnss track
and field coach. "The ultimate goal
for these athletes isto make OFSAA,
which is being held in Ibronto the
first weekend in June."
Carter says Harrison qualified for
OFSAA last year in the 300 metre
hurdles and has potential to make it
St. Anne's SecOndary School run-
ner Kelsey Smith finished seventh in
the midget girls' 100 metre dash at
WOSSAA last week.
. Matt deRuiter took first in the
midget boys' 300 metre hurdles with
a time of 43.51. •
He also finished second in the midg-
et boys' 400 metre dash, with a time
of 55.28.
Ali Frayne placed fifth inthe midg-
et girls' 800 metre run, with a time of
• 2:35.34.
Shannen Murray finished first in
the midget girls' 300 metre run, with
a time of 11:08.49.
.She also took second in the midget
girls' 1500 metre run, with a time of
5:08.61.
Nadine Otten finished third in the
midget girls' 80 metre hurdles, with
a time of 13.52.
She also took third in the midget
girls' 300 metre hurdles, with time
of 48.86.
Brittany Hymers finished fifth in
the midget girls' triple jump, with a
distance of 9.45 metres.
Shayla Mathers took seventh in
the midget girls' discus throw, with a
distance of 20.39 metres.
