A delicious light lemon cream cake was served with lemonade, tea or coffee at Queensway Nurs- ing and Retirement Home. A beautiful orchid plant was of- fered as a door prize for the after- noon and was won by Doreen An- derson. Mail volume increased signifi- cantly this past week as grateful sons and daughters made sure to send Mother's Day cards to their mothers. The Hensall Presbyterian women provided prizes amoommo and assistance for bingo games each Monday in April. The Hensall United women are doing so in May and following the bingo May 4, resident Beth Knox os the Friendship Tea meet- ing. The Swinging Seniors played to a full house Friday evening May 1 as every seat was filled in the Re- tirement Home lounge by residents looking to enjoy the familiar tunes payed by one of their favourite groups. Church services the past two weeks were led by Rev. Marybeth Wilson on April 28 and Rev. Jim Vellenga on May 5. Belva Fuss and Freda Johnston played piano for the services. Paper Hat Prin- cesses of Community Living vis- ited Thursday' and held their event outdoors with their Queensway friends in the courtyard in order to benefit from the beautiful weather and sunshine. The event was facili- tated by Katie Nixon. Grades 5 and 6 students of Hen- sall Public School demonstrated their skill and enthusiasm Thurs- day afternoon as several played numbers on their recorders and choir members performed a selec- tion of songs. The students accompanied by Lynn Bowman on the piano and teacher Louise Hoffman acquitted themselves beautifully with their professionalism and skill and re- spectful attitude towards their attentive audience, among them, several teachers who later shared memories of the work and dedica- tion that goes into such a perfor- mance. Artist Val Bradley spent Friday afternoon at Queensway guiding the resident artists among us as they did beautiful Mother's Day themed watercolour paintings: Lori Burt, registered massage therapist and Lisa ,Stewart, music therapist were in to provide their service to the residents. Seeingfarrning machinery in the. fields and the roads is a sure sign sprin, It appears spring has arrived in Winthrop the sun is shining and the temperatures are warming gradually. A sure sign of the season is the number of farm machines in the fields and on the roads. The early spring flowers are•_ putting: their best blooms forward and the deciduous trees are showing signs of fresh green. Rev.
