erennial plant and bake sale at Cavan on May 19
April is almost over and we have
only had a few days ofwarm weather
in Winthrop.
With the rain this past week, which
was needed, the grass has sure got
greener and it won't be long before the
lawn mowers will be back on the job.
The daffodils and other spring flowers
are starting to put on a show.
Rev. John's sermon at Cavan United
Church was titled "Unfinished Busi-
ness." Carol and Francis Hunt were
greeters and collec-
tors.
On Saturday, April
18, Marg McClure,
Maja Dodds, Grace Dolmage, Joan
Whyte and several ladies from Sea -
forth and area attended the "Ladies
Day Out" held at the Blyth Theatre
and sponsored by the Blyth UCW.
The theme was "Safety First." Guest
speaker was Lindsay Snow who spoke
about safety in the home. The OPP •

and the Blyth Fire
Department, the
Huron County Health
Unit and Women's Shelter were also
there with information.
The afternoon keynote speaker was
Mary Elliott Huyzen, who used to
sing on Circle 8 Ranch in Wingham.
This was followed by John and Gene-
va Heaman. John did a ventriloquist
'act as well as several musical num-
bers with his wife.
Upcoming events at Cavan United
Church are baptisms, perennial plant
and bake sale on May 19, a garage
sale on June 6 and an outdoor church
service on June 28.
