the spring of 1941, after 10 tries, he
was finally accepted into what was •

His wartime experiences included
serving as a radar mechanic in Eng-
land, Ireland, Scotland, North Af-
rica,
frica, Italy, Anzio and the invasion
of South France. While stationed at
Roddem's Port in Ireland, he met Di-

York, England.
• Returning home in the spring of

lived in St. Marys during the time.
The couple returned to Seaforth a
few years later where Frank joined
the family hardware business Geo.
A. Sills and Sons, which has served

Through the years, there were
partnerships with his father Frank
Sr., his brother D'Orlean and his son
Jim.
Frank enjoyed Main Street activi-
ties and helped to maintain a friend-

went about their business. •
Frank lived through many changes
in the way business was done in the
store. Gone are the travelling sales-

in bulk and sold in the container
brought in by the customer; no longer
